I changed the oil/filter on my 2012 991S at 2000 miles (I know - I didn't have to change the oil now, but it gave me something to do over the holidays), and now the oil level readout in the cabin does not return a reading. I filled with 7.5 quarts of Mobil 1 0-40W and changed the filter with an original Mahle. I compared the filter number on the original filter with the replacement filter, and the numbers match.
Does anybody have any idea why I can't get an oil level readout anymore? Any ideas are welcome.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try adding a little more oil. But I surmise the readout would give me a low level warning if I hadn't added enough oil.
When I first changed the oil in my 991, it took a while to get a new oil level reading. Basically had to drive the car around and get it to temperature, and only then did it give a readout.
I thought there was an old-fashioned dipstick as well to check the oil level? I would think that is preferable to guessing how much more oil to put in the car to drive around with while the system recalibrates/comes on.

Porsche did away with the dip stick in the 911 beginning in 2005 with the launch of the 997.1.
