Just saying, don't want a debate to start. I modded two of my previous TT's and there doesn't seem to be this kind of anxiety over flashing or plenum upgrades on the Turbo forums. I also understand that there is more power to wring out of the turbo cars so please don't roast me for that.
One of my flashed TT's (EPL flash, Europipe exhaust,) suffered the dreaded popping out of 2nd gear syndrome, RMS issues. Even with the flash Porsche flew in a new tranny to replace mine in less than 4 days. Dealer knew about upgrades. I understand that NA cars are different but why not wring out a little more hp and better throttle response if you can for less than the $15K Porsche wants for X51. Just saying I don't get all the anxiety.

Well this isn't a dyno but I have some info. I had my IPD plenum installed last week at my local dealer (4 hours labor). I had previously tried launch control at a safe location in April, about 73 deg F, a freeway on ramp that inclines up (there is a light pole at the top at .3 miles), and it clocked 16.87 seconds. I did it today, temp was 89F, and the clock was 16.22! I realize that I could be slow/late/early on the chrono stock both starting and stopping the clock but I truly tried to do the launch exactly the same. I also installed K&N air filters (15600 miles on car) and out of the box (new) they are not oily! Most people over oil them when cleaning. I won't make that mistake. The GT3 RS uses very nice (and expensive) BMC filters from the factory. The intake sounds a bit more throaty but that may be a placebo effect. I had done this mod to my '10 C2s plus a sharkwerks & evomsit tune and that car was faster than a stock 991C4s from 0-60, 60-100, and 100 to go to jail speed! Btw, the launch control in the 991 C4s is a "non-event" as compared to a 997.2 C2s! The traction of the awd is simply amazing! I do not plan to change or do any other mod (I do not have PSE). I do not have any other numbers to share: idle is the same in both normal (650) and sport and sport plus (800) as before the IPD was installed. I hope this helps.

I've been starting to look into this IPD plenum as well. Anymore guys out there running them on your 991?

Would be interested in some 3.4 owners opinions.

Call me clueless, I had NO idea the plenum was so huge in our cars!! I thought it was less than half the size. This thing is a beast. Weighs like 5lbs. Ready to suck in more engine air soon!

Thanks Eric @ Supreme Power!

Pics from a Rennlister. Stock plastic Carrera S plenum vs. aluminum IPD.

STG, I told you it was a very nicely machined air intake apparatus that makes the plenum on the stock non Power Kit cars look like junk in comparison. And as I mentioned before (& you noted) all Porsche GT type cars have an aluminum plenum, not plastic. It was pretty to look at on the 997.2! Will it give 15HP/14T? Probably not, but it is an improvement in the airflow and a more stable temperature material. I know I can hear the difference, and feel a smoother flow of power. I hope you like it and will undoubtedly share with us your thoughts.

Thanks! ^^^

The quality and size of this thing is definitely worth the $$$

I know Porsche leaves room for upgrades and the accountants get the best of cutting costs when possible.

Adding BMC air filters as icing on the cake too.

Looks like a very well made part. Have fun w/ the install... Hopefully it gives you some additional power.

Leaving that to the dealer! Quite the job on the 991's vs. 997's

STG are you planning on a dyno to verify the power increase? If not, any seat of pants effect?

Aluminum IPD just a bit heavier. Aluminum vs. plastic. Didn't have both side by side. Maybe 1lb?? Not sure.
