Not doing a dyno. Didn't get to push the car yet for any noticeable power difference. Not really expecting anything worth writing about.

I did notice a definite improved sound difference when driving. Did BMC filters at the same time. Even at idle, just sounds a bit more aggressive. That alone is reason enough for me.

This puzzles me a bit. You would think Porsche engineers can easily change the "T" into a "Y" design if there's value in doing so. It's just a plastic molding change and seems WAY too logical for them to not thought about it at one point. Their engineers spent many hours trying to improve airflow of the engines, through software and airflow testing. Also, would this block of aluminum create heat soak issues? My experience with intake mods is avoid replacing plastic parts with metal or alum to prevent heat soak. Stay with plastic or CF for intakes parts.

Porsche leaves power on the table for upgrades. They saved the upgraded plenum for the GTS.

Everything I've read says nothing negative to using aluminum. IPD answers that question on their website. The Porsche GT3, etc .. also have aluminum ones. They use plastic because it's much cheaper to mass produce.

Anytime.

The IPD and BMC filter combo have made a VERY noticeable improved intake sound. Performance wise? Maybe a little.

STG, your thoughts on the plenum after living with it for a while?

EDIT: sorry, didn't see your response above. I was typing the same time you were!

Sound, much better! Very apparent.

Performance, I'd say very slight improvement.

I wouldn't just do it for performance (as cost wouldn't justify it for most guys), but between the two I'm very happy.

I should be able to get out for some harder driving soon.

I just deactivated my BMW M235i "soundtrack". It was annoying and really fake. Then again, I plugged my Sound Symposer too, so I'm not getting the full "wail of the screaming intake" that Porsche thinks I need. I must be old, or boring, or both. But I'm happy.

Yes, the symposer is pretty much a tube to which the intake sound is able to enter the cabin. The diaphram opens when the "sport" button is pressed.

I love it! Plug it? No way.

If a "plugger", read here:

Yes that is what I notice when I did an IPD upgrade on my 981 Cayman S! I Much more robust piece of machinery.

I know Porsche leaves room for upgrades and the accountants get the best of cutting costs when possible.

Adding BMC air filters as icing on the cake too.
I also did BMC filters on my 981 Cayman added to a Porsche Sports Exhaust. Car was very nice sounding and felt a bit quicker. Only issue was I got a CEL right after the install which wouldn't go away despite everything my shop tried initially. Smoke test to make sure there were no air leaks, and even multiple throttle body resets. This I found was a known issue with the IPD plenium upgrades on 981's as they really needed either a ECU tune to tell the car to disregard all the additional airflow parameters or if one drove the car long enough (as with mine about 250-750miles) the car/ECU would "learn" to adjust to the codes/CEL and then shut off the dayum warning light and message in the dash. However if the car was services at the dealer and the electronics reset or upgraded...I had to do the whole process over again. That is what gives me pause at doing this with my 991S at this point. It was painful at times and irritating. However a big part was the lack of a flash like GIAC, EVOMSIT, or Softronics for that car-981. I understand the 991 has no such problem so theoretically CEL's and increased airflow should be no problem. But I'd be interested in what others have experiences!
