Default mileage question

about to buy new 991s as my lease on 997 4s is up- dealer has a car that has 211 miles on it- not a demo, just test drives etc- its a 2012, so much better incentives than the '13 which is no different. anyone wary of the mileage on the car given that it's the perfect build for what I want?

No. I just picked my new leftover 2012 Carrera with 79 miles on it, some of that was my test drive. I don't abuse new cars on test drives and am pretty sure my dealer frowns on it too, so I don't think there's too much harm could be done even in 211 miles.

I would not be, but why not have the dealer run a quick history on it.

Break-In period is 2000 miles under 4000 RPM. I highly doubt it stayed under 4000 RPM on test drives, granted 211 miles is probably pretty insignificant.

Depends on the deal you get on the car and where you are located. 211 miles are for the most part insignificant on a 991.

Before my salesman let me off the lot he made sure that I really push in order "to see what she can do". Needless to say, I had to obliged. When I got back, I made sure I meet him inside so he wouldn't the smell from the engine bay. But, then again, I only did what was asked of me...hehe

Doesn't really surprise me what dealers do/say but the guy I dealt with was pretty laidback. I have never thrashed on a new performance car when I've test driven them, I already know pretty much how fast they are from reading up before coming in. I don't want to abuse someone's future baby. Now if they happen to have demo or used model with some miles already on it, then all bets are off.

By definition if a car has been test driven by clients it's a demo. Doesn't have to be registered to get there. Having said that 211 miles is nothing and you've got 4 years of warranty ahead of you to look after everything anyway. Just make sure the deal takes into account it isn't "brand new".
