I would check the driver bottom seal then take it to the dealer. I've only experienced "that new cal smell" in the cabin of mine on street or track.

I had this on my new 2013 991 in the first few miles. Right after I started it up on two occasions I smelled what I thought was a "natural gas" leak, of course natural gas doesn't without an additive to make us detect it. Searching on a few other car forums others have reported similar smells on new cars with various theories on some sort of breaking in of a component of the car. Mine went away after the first few times of starting it. If it persists I would get it checked out.

Have you been watching any Cheech and Chong movies lately?.... Oh you said GAS not GRASS?

I have never had this but I am guessing something to do with the Direct injection, new on the 997.2 and 991 cars But I would take it to your best mechanic what ever that dealer is and dont smoke.

Can't see it, Paul. They did change the fuel delivery plumbing to include a high-pressure reserve section, but I can't see it leaking in a way that would lead to a smell in the cabin. That is, in a way that would cause that and be noticeable before the whole car went up in flames.

Seriously, the high pressure section isn't the source or the symptoms would be much more dramatic.

I'm not sure why you hesitate taking it to the dealer, Manks; yours must be a lot less pleasant place to hang out than mine. You really should do so. The only 'innocent' fumes in a new car come from out-gassing of various plastics. If you know that smell and this isn't it, then hie thee to a dealer.

Default I have the same problem

Same problem here. The smell occours when drivign slowly and with frequent stops. (city). This is on a 5 month old C4S / 991. The gas smells like sulfur/burnt matches. I am suspecting brakes (Ceramic in my case) or something wrong with the engine. The problem is quite annoying.

guessing at either:
the in cabin air filter (usually more of a bad feet smell) or something wrong with your cats.

Grass fed beef. And farts. Always pull over and exit the vehicle before farting. Read the manual.

Nice hat, right? lol She likes meat.

It’s exactly as others have described.

gassy smell that doesn’t smell exactly like gasoline. More like natural gas. It’s kinda sweet, but not like antifreeze.

it’s intermittent after coming to a stop or maneuvering at slow speeds. Only lasts for a few seconds, but is quite strong. It goes away completely with recirculate on, so it’s coming through the fresh air intake.

Car is a 991.1 S

any idea where it would be coming from? No signs of leaks anywhere.

I’ve been watching all my fluids since this started. None are dropping fast enough to cause suspicion.

whatever is causing the smell it’s either gasoline or a very minute amount of something.
