Exactly - and rev-matching (via heel-toe or electronically) can save much more than the clutch. Plenty of inexperienced people crash their cars at the track by downshifting without rev-matching which can make the car spin in a heartbeat.

I think this is the main reason for introducing this feature (keeping cars out of the wall at the track and keepin them pointing the right direction on the road).

Hmmm. If I don't want PDK because I enjoy the involvement of up shifting and downshifting, why would I want a manual with a rev matched downshift feature. Executing a properly timed heel-toe is my favorite part of shifting.

Me too - unfortunately too few understand the need for it and/or are willing to spend the time to develop the skill.

Then they should get a PDK.

This gent says that the rev-matching feature of the manual transmission is the best feature.

Rev matching in a MT should be banned! It does not gel with the tradition that the old school purists have in mind !

I don't understand the need for it myself. If you want auto-rev matching, hill hold, etc., get a PDK. When/if I ever buy another manual, it will be because I want to control the shifting process myself under all conditions. I'd hate to see an undefeatable rev-matching feature on my next manual car.
