Traded my 997.1 for a MT 991 a week ago and I am in love with the new car. Not that I did not enjoy or like the 997 but the 991S performs better and it is finally a sophisticated car. I know about the raw feeling of previous cars, but it sure feels nice to have a refined car or at least to me. About the 7 speed manual I find it a lot better than my 997. position is great feel is excellent and the 7 gear is just wonderful. i drove my 997 to houston from el paso texas (12 hour drive more or less). i was cruising at 90 mph and the rpm's where almost a 4k if not at 4k which is really high specially for a 12 hour drive. coming back with my 991 7gear allows well below 3k rpms not to mention fuel consumption is much improved.

ohhhhhh my car came with sport exhaust and i would tell anybody that this option should be mandatory......sound is superb. previous cars were lacking this sound by a million miles finally the sound is up there with ferraris if you ask me.

as you can see totally in love with my 991S

I agree that PSE should be standard on all Porsches which would drive down its price. As good as a PSE sounds, another advantage is that you can turn it off. A nice option if you are taking a prolonged trip on some expressway.
I'm not sure that I would compare the exhaust sound of a 991 with PSE and a Ferrari. I've driven my brother's '07 Ferrari 599 GTB on several occassions, and that car's exhaust has a sound which is in a class by itself. There's nothing like the sound of a 6 liter engine at over 8K RPM. My recollection is that car has a redline of around 8500 RPM.

Oh, a 3.8L over 8K RPM isn't too shabby either...
