I guess the fun fact associated with this is that the radio stays on when the hands free key thingee is turned to the off position and engine is killed- until the door is opened to exit the car.

Your from SF, my old hometown, and you criticize smokers, which I'm not, but I wonder if you give the same counseling to people who have lets say, unhealthy or abnormal sexual practices.
No, you're not right, you're just one of the programmed robots who spout political correctness at each opportunity, while conveniently overlooking the obvious contradictions in your own life and community!
There it is guys, if you have the smoking package, you are an evil SOB who deserves the wrath of the PC crowd! You know the ones, the TOLERANT ones.

curiously, the bluetooth connection to the car stays on and active after the car is turned off and the door is open if the call was initiated while the car was on

It is the one where a guy takes a friend for a ride in his new convertable and the guy pokes around in the center console and finds a golf tee. He asks, "What's that for" and is told that it is "to hold ***** while driving".
I had the same reaction as he did. Those guys think of everything!

For some reason that bit of information reminds me of story I heard about a Cadillac.

The car has 2 rear center brake lights.
The rear spoiler has a second center brake light integrated into it, which only works when the spoiler is deployed.
When the spoiler is retracting, the center brake light function is automatically transferred from spoiler back to the center brake light located on the rear deck.
