Default Gear Shift Assist on MT 991, Help!

The MT 991 has a Gearshift Assistant that according to the manual provides assistance during performance-oriented driving.
I can see the display showing what gear is engaged but it does not prompt me to shift gears as it is supposed to.
Do I have to activate this feature? If so, how?
I placed a call to my dealer but have not heard back yet.

Rev counters are purely for entertainment.

Intuitive, yes it is. I was just wondering if it needed to be activated or if mine was defective. Someone posted a reply on another board indicating that the display only works after revving past 5k rpm. I am still during break-in period (below 4k). So no wonder it appeared as if it was not working.
And yes, some of the electronic displays can be for show more than actual need.

The gear selector assistant really only works when driving aggressively. If I recall correctly, the gauge will turn yellow at over 5,000RPM, and will turn red when over 6,000RPM. Otherwise, it stays the regular grey colour.

I think the real gearshift assist is also known as PDK!

No need to set it, it begins to work after 5000 rpm.

Doesn't it show when to shift only when SPORT mode is not on?
