Same here, I've only seen one other...my dealer has a full stock of them so I suspect with a slow economy, the big ticket items don't sell very quickly...explains why my dealer stepped up on my trade (2009 997.2 C2S Cab.)

FRANKFURT -(MarketWatch)- Porsche Automobil Holding SE's sportscar unit said Monday global sales in April rose 7.2% on the year to 12,588 cars, fueled by the new-generation 911 model.

"With a new best performance for customer deliveries in April, we are on track for our (growth targets until) 2018," Porsche sales chief Bernhard Maier said in a statement.

Porsche aims to almost double annual sales volume to 200,000 by 2018, according to previous statements.

In the January-to-April period, Porsche's global sales were up 12.6% compared with the same period last year at 43,141 cars.

The Porsche 911 model accounted for 3,123 car sales last month, up 40% year-on-year. The Cayenne sports-utility-vehicle remained Porsche's bestselling model with 6,037 vehicle sales in April.

MAIN FACTS:

- Porsche April sales in Europe +13.1% at 4,682 cars

- Porsche April sales in Germany +22% at 1,850 cars

- Porsche April U.S. sales +8.4% at 3,437 cars

- Porsche April sales in China +0.9% at 2,338 cars.

Very easy to beat last year's calamitous figures anywhere in the developed world. If I worked at Porsche I'd be looking at the China number and worrying that the bubble had burst.

Not disputing your China point, but I do beleive 2011 was Porsche's highest sales volume ever, so calamitous may not be the best description.

I thought these were 911 numbers. You're correct: No problems for Porsche when the whole range is taken into consideration.

I think the last few boats that service California dealers have resulted in an influx of 991's. They're all over the place in Silicon Valley.

Interestingly enough, when I'm on a country road near my house, if it's a 997 or 993 going the other way, they'll flash their headlights or wave. When it's one of the other 991's, there's no recognition. It's a bit like when I had a 993 and driving the same road, the same other drivers would flash their headlights, but if I was in the 996 GT3 or the Boxster (they look identical head-on) there was no recognition. The "contrarian" in me decided "from now on, I'll flash every damn Porsche I see! I'll look like a damn fool doing it, but damn the torpedoes! Dammit!" : )

It's all the Facebook money pilfered from folks who thought FB was going to be a grand investment.

The biggest fool was Zuckerberg for only selling half his stock when the going was good. I've seen this happen so many times, including to me when I floated my business. Nobody's immune from bad calls.

I don't know who'd be crazy enough to drive one regularly in Manhattan...truth be told I haven't seen many here either. I can be seen driving my 991 usually on the east side and most often on weekends making my getaway from (and return to) the city on the FDR. That's enough to raise the adrenaline and anxiety level anyday!

I've seen a handful of 991 coupes on the Dubai roads. But 997s are very common, so it's only a matter of time that seeing a 991 becomes an everyday thing.

I don't know why some feel the need to conclude Porsche 991 sales by how many they see on the road. I know it's a criteria, but it's not like the 996's and 997's flooded the streets of Manhattan before. To those who comment they don't see them in Manhattan I have a piece of advice : get out more! Maybe I'll start taking pictures every time I see them and post their license plates here so that people believe it.
Most of the ones I see are dark colors, like black and such...don't know why...
