Default Tracking the 991 through production

Hello all,

My 991 is scheduled to be completed on May 25th. Is there any way I can track the car. On BMW's site, once you have a build number, you can track the car. Can you do that with Porsche. My dealer, as always, has no idea.

Cheers

when completed and "on vessel" you can cross reference the departure date with the list of boats porsche uses that the dealer should have.

figure a month at least to usa from departure

You can't track your Porsche build like you can a BMW. Your dealer can check on your build status as often as he wants to. It generally only updates once a day, and I find that it lags a day or two behind what is actually happening.

Thanks for the reply, guys. I feel like 6 days more and the model designation would have been 2013. *sigh* Several dealers have told me that like the 05/06 997, where the model was introduced midyear, there is no significant difference in aftermarket pricing. Is this true, I wonder?

Dealer let me know that it is "on vessel" today. How do I get the name of the ship? Will the dealer know?

Thanks for the info Peterm. Using that info, I got the name from dealer: Marguerite Ace.

Now that I have the name: I have seen been able to find out it's last position but not when and where it's expected to dock. Anyone know where other owners are getting this info or is it simply wait and see.

Dealer has full access to the ship schedule and ETA for arrival at various ports. Ask.

RNL, Much appreciated! I'm getting more excited as the days go by.

Eric, I called the dealer. He said he has no access to that information "Porsche is very secretive about those details."

GJ, that's amazingly fast. My car completed production on 5/24 (one day after). Guess I missed the boat, literally!

Me too! In that I've waited 46 years you would think the week or so would be easy. Nope, it's not.

Your dealer is just lazy or uninformed. Eric is correct, the fdealer has very detailed information about the build and shipment of your car available to him. the downside is that the info is only update once a day and oftern it is actually a day or so behind what is actually going on.

If your dealer really cares about your business they can get you every detail you ask for!
