Default Color Question

Saw a cab yesterday with a red interior and black top. The exterior was a deep beige color. I have only seen the pure white color ~ does anyone know what this 'beige' color is?

There is really only one beige... Called luxor... There is a dark green/brown color called Umber and there is espresso(dark brown). You likely saw luxor but I wouldnt personally describe it as "deep"

I think she is asking about the exterior color.

creme was a 997 standard metallic option in 2009- went special color in 2010 for 3400 extra now it would only be paint to sample. If it was brown could be anthracite regular metallic color or cognac special metallic

Karen,

First off, since you posted this on the 991 Forum I am assuming it was a 991 your saw. The only 991 color that could be described as "a deep beige color" is Lime Gold Metallic.

Check out this thread: Lime GOld

Here is another pic

You're probably right, but I'm trying to get my head around Lime gold with a red interior......

I agree ~ I thought it was too many colors, red/black/'beige' ~ if it had been black interior/black top/black wheels with 'beige' it would have been awesome!

That's it! Lime Gold ~ must have been why I had such a hard time describing it

Ok, I have to admit it's not quite as god-awful as I imagined it, at least in that rendition, but still not my cup of tea....

As the saying goes, "if you can't say anything nice ..." and there are several new Porsche colors for which I am speechless.

I saw about ten new 991's and as many Cayennes yesterday and they all looked as if they'd fallen from the top of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. I guess you can apportion blame to the dealer (since the car looks pretty good in basic red/white/blue/black/silver, ordering cars with peculiar designs seems to be in poor taste) but the thing is, the showroom had only two unsold.

I have to assume there's a generational gap in tastes, but I look back to the early 70's when Aubergine (purple) and colors that buyers have come to call "baby poop brown" and "baby puke yellow" etc., were not uncommon ... along with patchwork quilt cabin trim, etc.

As ever, there's no accounting for taste, and these buyers will learn the total cost of their eclectic choices when they bring the car back to the dealer who will advise that anything outside the base colors and options detracts from their staid beliefs in resale value.

Ironically, I think we're going to see a lot (maybe 20% or 30%) of 911's without a sunroof -- that used to be a taboo with car dealers: even a Cayenne without a sunroof was considered an albatross around their neck. I can only hope that in 2015, secondary market buyers will vote for the hardtop cars. I can't realistically hold hope for buyers en masse to decide to have a baby poop yellow 911 proudly displayed in their driveway. : )

I wonder if Porsche will make your car with any combo of colours no mattter how crazy and ugly? I have seen a Macadamia Metallic car filled with yellow everything inside for example.
