Default Dealer explanation for delay

I've had a delay in the completion date of my 991S 7MT and would like some perspectives or experiences on the dealer explanation for the delay.

I ordered the car in February from my local Illinois dealer and was originally given a May 2 completion date. In early April, the completion date changed to April 30 - a nice surprise. Then, on May 7 I received a note from my dealer with the following: "Here is the VIN, the car went through a quality inspection which slowed down the car by one week. Good thing though because an extra full run through is good for the long term ownership."

Anyone have a similar dealer experience? Any ideas on what an extra quality inspection entails, and why it might delay the completion date by a week? I sure hope this is not a sign of a "lemon"...

It's not my first 911, but is my first new one.

This happen all of time. Not just new models either. At the end of a vehicles production, the factory plucks random cars and puts them thru a QC process that takes at least a week. Exactly what the process is, i am unsure of. Sucks you have to wait a little longer but this is no reason to think you have a lemon on the way.

If it arrives with more than 20kms on it, that's not a good sign.

Don't worry. Even if it has 50 miles. Who cares. It's a brand new car and they did additional testing on it. Dates change all the time. I've had Porsches bumped a month.

I would trust a Porsche tech over myself when it comes to driving the car.

My CS Cab had a build date of May 5. It was moved up to April 30 as well. My dealer told me on May 7th it was still in " PRDLST" production quality inspection. He did not have a VIN for me or any other information.
