Porsche had this 991 cab at the New York Auto Show, which I visited last weekend.
I like the exterior color on this car,but I see this interior much better with white. That's what I would get anyway...
BTW,the soft top was the same color as the interior and looked great!

It's all subjective but the key comment above - if you're leasing you can just walk away from brown or red top. But I sure would not want to own them as resale will be much harder than black or blue (which doesn't suit your earth tone interior)

I think the colour of the top needs to match either the paint or the interior colour.

I have never own a convertible, so could someone elaborate on why brown top would be harder to upkeep/replace if I intend to keep the car over 5 years? Does the fabric fade or gets creased with time?

Just get what makes you feel good and happy about your purchase. People here have different tastes and I don't think you will come to a conclusion with this.
You are ordering a car built to your tastes, you're not buying off the lot. Why not get exactly what you want?
Why worry that the brown top will show aging signs sooner than the black?
If you intend to keep the car for more than 5 years it won't matter if it's actually true and black top cars sell better than the others. In 5 years it will depreciate a lot anyway.
Just my opinion...

I posted a note a few weeks ago regarding a red vs black top on a white car. I opted for a black top and interior. With that combo, I'll have three basic colors on the car - white body; black top, tires and interior; red brakes, tail lights and reflectors.

Add black stone guards and it will look great.

Where do you get black stone guards ? Fantastic! I thought about a brown top to go with the espresso, but opted for black, more symetrical, Got Black wheels to add to symetry, and espresso, to have the premium leather, 3 more weeks. Sad no option for a white top, considering a custom one and HRE p40 SC.

Hahahahahaha! Had to be that THPorsche, I just nodded in disbelief when I saw that picture.

Like neanicu writes, we all have different interpretations of beauty. I think black interior with black top is toooo common and just a safe bet thinking of resale, but it really does nothing for me.

Our friend the dentist will have to decide for himself after reading all our rants! Good luck and inform us of final build!

I have a gray top which shows dirt much more readily than brown would. I generally clean it once every couple of months and re-water proof it whenever water stops beading on it. About twice a year in my case.

Mine's 8 years old and still looks and performs great. Get the color you like and stop worrying about maintenance. The maintenance on a colored top is no different than the maintenance on a black top.

I think I'd rather look at rock chips.

Is this really a problem? I have an 8 year old wide body with almost 60K that doesn't have any chips on the rear fenders.

FYI...The fins are high energy magnetic. They are removeable. Nice to have options if you do track work or long trips.
