Default 991 window chatter

Hi All

Had my 991 for about a month now and what a superb car it is. However I have a couple of minor niggles. Firstly there is a slight drone from the rear end at certain speeds (I suspect the Pirelli P-Zero tyres). Secondly, the windows chatter a little bit over rough road surfaces. My 997 used to do it a little bit, but the 991 does it quite a lot and I gather there is no adjustment in the software (which there was I believe on the 997).

Anyone else had either of these issues?

Niggles? I'm pretty sure that's not a NAACP approved term.

Why not take it to the dealer? Guessing the car is very new and they would love to fix it for you. Cheers.

No problems with either of those issues. My car is rock solid over pot holes, railroad tracks, etc. The drone issue is surprising as the first thing I noticed in my car was the lack of tire noise of any kind in the cockpit.
I would take the car back to the dealer and see if there is anything they can do with the window issue.

Likewise I'm not experiencing any of these noises so I'd have them checked out. My rant comes from the vibration in the doors, presumably where the speakers are (plastic covers), coming from bass in the Bose system...I don't expect this from a $100k+ car. I don't too much care for the sound system to start with to be honest which is why I didn't bother with the Burmester, but the Bose pkg didn't come cheap either...

No window chatter or drone but I too have a little vibration from the bass in the doors and I do have the Burmester. So it's not specific t the Bose.

Thanks guys. I was intending to take it back to the dealer but wanted to get a feel for whether others were having the same experience.

For what its worth, one of the dealer's demo cars has window chatter too. So at least they will have something to practice on!

I'm not getting window chatter, but if my sunroof is open sometimes I get a slight clunk when going over bumps. I'm worried that if the sunroof gets off track the sob can blow off!

I had the car detailed on Monday and the problem seems slightly less now - presumably the window cleaning product has lubed the soor seals somewhat.

The windows still make a bit of noise when the car shimmies on the starter when cold and when going over speed humps etc. It is as though the shell is flexing and the windows are moving about against the rubbers.

I will be interested to hear from the 991 owners if they still have very little tire noise once the tires, rears especially, get 7-8 K miles on them. New tires are always a lot quieter, so it will be interesting to see if the quiet nature of the tires continues.

You might try a little armor all or equivalent on your rubbers to quiet the niggles.
