Default Sunroof+Roof Rack

how does this work since the roof rack rear mounts are where the sunroof goes back?

anyone come across this hurdle yet?

Speculating -- but the mounts are straight up an down, so does the panel simply slide inside the side mounts and under the bar?

(I did order racks, but not sunroof, so have not had a reason to delve further into that answer.)

haha, i did sunroof delete as well and roof rack.. but i saw one at dealer and saw the mounts (they are in the rubber slit behind sunroof and it's directly under where the roof slides... so wasnt sure if they redesigned the mounts for rack.

Is there any weight savings with the delete, and if so-how much?

i would assume so as one solid panel clearly weights less than side pieces+backpieces+mounting hardware+motor+moveable panel with extra padding and sound dampending and the wind deflector..

how much weight=we'll never know... i would assume 10lbs at least from the roof... which is amazing.. i ordered a sunroof delete because i NEVER use a sunroof... i ordered sunroof delete on both my cayenne's as well..i actually prefer the simple headliner as well.

I would love a number on that weight savings as well.

Obviously a different situation, but the sliding glass targa penalty is surprisingly high. And this is the 997 glass, which is lighter than previous sliding glass ones:

"Still, the roof module, together with additional chassis reinforcements necessary to compensate for the stiffness lost in the beheading process, taxes the Targa's curb weight by 132 pounds compared to an otherwise similar Carrera 4."

132lbs for a targa roof.. jeeez!

the sunroof delete has gotta be at least 30-35lbs i would assume taking that into account... i'll def weigh my 991 base with a full tank of gas when i get it... and maybe someone else can chime in with a weight of one with similar options but with sunroof..

That is amazing! I'm looking for as much weight savings I can get. No sunroof for me. Thanks for the info.

The manual says not to open the roof when the roof transport system is on (to avoid damage), unfortunately.
