I have it as well. I like the outlet there for my radar detector. Looks more finished.

Good only for change, spare keys (I carry some other keys separately).
I still prefer it to the smoker's pkg but only because I'm picky and don't like the chrome strip on the door flap for one, and I would likely never leave it with the flap open.
My guess is one day someone will create either a permanently fixed lid, or perhaps more likely a retractable lid but for the non-smoker open box.
do u have a 993s for sale

Like the look of the smoker better. If I had known what it was and its cost I would have ordered. Just rejected due to "smoker" label.

I like the look of the cover. Plus an easy to get to 12v plug. Should have ordered this no cost option. I just thought smoker and figured I would skip it. Helpful post.

I second that ... and had just a few days left to change my order accordingly a few weeks ago!!

Trying to decide on this free option.

Question. Is this also a better / more convenient spot to plug in my battery maintainer?

Thanks.

I didn't think about the smoker's package until my salesman suggested it. I thought I'd skip it and use the little cubby to place my iPhone. But it was too small for even that. So it made sense to get the package because it adds the lighter and the door for a cleaner look.

I think, one should always get the somer's package. Looks much nicer and you get a free 12V plug, instead of a too small cuby hole. Porsche and "free option" is very rare, so take advantage of it!

MY SA told me to plug in the tender on the passenger footwell and run the wire out below the passenger door, which is what I am going to do.

I ordered my 2014 C2 coupe with the smokers package. At first I wasn't going to go for it because, well im not a smoker But I saw that i liked the finished look of the smokers package so I decided to go with it.

Since the subject of where to plug in a battery tender has come up in this thread, my question is: How long does a 911 have to be sitting idle in order to require a battery tender? More than 3 months? 4? Or as little as 1 or 2?

I think it says 6 weeks in the user manual.

My cars are all sunny weekend toys. If I ain't driving it, it's plugged in. Been doing this for years. It's so easy to do, why not. This is the secret to making your OEM battery last more than 5 years. Certainly during winter hibernation.
