Default The 991 rides too rough!!!

I know the flames are coming, but geez, I felt nauseated during the extended test drive when I was the passenger. When I was driving, it wasn't as bad, but still you feel and hear every bump in the road. The last sport car I have ever own was an '85 Supra when I was in college (I bought it used, so I am not that old ), and even that car was not this rough...that I can remember. Ever since I have always driven sedans, so I guess I prefer the soft rides.

The car has a slight hesitation when you first step on the accelerator. Is that normal?

In any case, the car will be for my wife, and she's ok with it so that's what matters.

The 991 is a cushy GT. If anything is far more insulated that previous 911s. You definitely do not want a sports car. A chauffeured limo perhaps?

Perhaps it was set on sport mode at the time, or the dynamic suspension was firmed up from some spirited test driving?

By default PASM is always on Normal (soft) when it starts.

What? Rides too rough? You might want to take a look at a nice cushy Buick.

The 991 is supposed to be much more smoother than it's predecessors. Indecently, I owned a Supra back in college. Can't remember that far back to compare. My only worthwhile advise to you would be to spend more time driving the car, perhaps shortly after driving a GT3. Cheers.

Lol! I really wanted to like a well priced GT3 but my kidneys threatened me when I drove over some RR tracks...

LOL, I wish.

I saw a button in the middle console with a pic of a shock on it, and I pressed it to turn off the red light. So, even with it off, I didn't notice any changes. We're going back next weekend to drive it again.

LOL, I did own a Buick Century once...gift from parents. I couldn't wait to get rid of it, and get the Supra.

I test drove the 997 as well, but on different roads so I wasn't comparing apples to apples. The other roads were much newer, and smoother so the 997 felt much more livable.

GoTX-If you found the 997 livable, I'd expect you to like the ride of the 991 much more. This is based on the million odd reviews I've read-no first hand experience yet. Cheers.

Avoid the tracks then, mate! Just joking. I keep going back to the GT3 for that raw experience. It just seems to be such an undiluted ride. I am very tempted to reconsider the 991 plan for a GT3. My pain threshold may be slightly higher from years of getting bashed on the rugby pitch; or I'm missing some brain cells that register pain. There are some here that DD their GT3-believe it or not!

If the suspension was "firmed up" by some spirited driving, it would be compliant immediately post spirited driving. it's not like the suspension needs time to settle. The aforementioned scenario would only be likely if Normal mode was left alone when starting and PASM firmed up because of said spirited driving (PASM does this), which would still be less than the Sport selection anyway. Either way the suspension does not stay firm unless Sport is selected.

Similar scenario with the dynamic engine mounts, although there is no selection, hence "dynamic".

Too rough? Are you serious? wow... I thought it rode beautifully during my drive... something I could happily live with on a daily basis. Perhaps you are not a sports car kind of guy.

This car is going to be my daily driver. It's just my wife and I, no kids. I'll probably put at least 15K miles on it the first year and I don't see any comfort issues.
