Default True dry sump or not?

Does the 991 have a true dry sump engine or is it another "integrated" unit with warnings in the owners manual about running R compound tires?

Im still dissapointed that Porsche has gone away from dry sumps in the normal cars...

Nope. Though now it has strategically placed oil pickup pumps. It does not require a dry sump anymore.

Cool. Thanks for sharing video. Encouraging...

I've been disappointed that Porsche has made its cars i.e. 911s not as track worthy compared to pre-996, air-cooled, dry sump cars.

I think it's more a question of eliminating more areas where oil leaks can develop. Integrating things eliminate things like oil lines and many of those things will seep or leak in time. Today's Porsche owners don't want to see any oil leaks--period!

Have you seen a GT3 or GT2? Porsche has been making these cars for years that lap circles around those air-cooled dinosaurs...and yes they are all dry sump.

You know the engines in the GT2/GT3 are based on the engines in those "air cooled dinosaurs", right?

A couple of my air-cooled buddies lap GT3's all day long at places like Road America.

I don't believe he does.
I also don't believe the name Hans Mezger would mean anything either.

The M64 derivatives are arguably the best production engine ever introduced into a Porsche, perhaps any modern car.
