Why do some feel electric steering is a bad thing? F1 cars use it.

It occurs to me that with a sports car like the 911, where the whole point is to deliver a fun driving experience, that once you introduce THIS many computer into the way the car handles, the quality of the software engineers becomes almost more important than the mechanical engineers to the quality of the end product. That not saying electronics are bad, just that everything now hinges upon the quality of the software behind all these new features irrespective of the basic mechanical configuration of the vehicle. Software is make or break.

I realize F1 crossed this line long ago, but in that arena only the stopwatch matters. In a sports car, fun is everything.

More bad:

1. No decent seat options/no seat options with harness pass throughs
2. No PDEM without being forced to have the ugly wart on the dash
3. No option for painted exterior warts
4. Carrera S is getting very pricey ~$110K with normal options and no high priced options like PCCB or aero

1. Be patient
2. I like the wart
3. ????
4. Agree, but to be expected. Name a high end performance car that's getting cheaper. As content, performance, etc. goes up so does price.

I think he is talking about the external satellite radio antenna. It has migrated from a rear roof location on the .2 997 to the center top of the rear deck lid on the 991! z356

No, he talking about the ugly wart on the dash. The 991 may have a prettier ugly wart but it's still ugly, imo anyway. And, it really ruins Full Leather.

The ugly shark fin atop a sleek roof (997.2s) in another topic.

Agreed, however, I think we will see more options as these cars become available. Sport Buckets may be available again. Right now you can't spec Crests Headrests either.

W/PDK, SC Plus, PDCC, SPASM, Sport Exhaust, Full Leather, A.S.S. I came up with >$124,000. At that point one might as well add Burmester for another $2,500 over Bose (sucks... oops did I say that aloud?) and get that MSRP close to $130,000, WTF!

I like the new high-end sound package option of Burmester for "Porsche Audiophiles"... it sure beats the outdated BOSE system.

And it's not already painted body color? And if so, someone would want an option to repaint it something else?

I think he is talking about the headlight washer warts, if the 991 still has them. You can have them painted the body color on the 997.

Like I previously said in the above post, he IS talking about the dash WART, not the ugly chrome nipples nor the stupid 997.2 roof shark fin. The butt ugly dash wart that is.

BTW, you can get them colored matched, or should I say could on the 997 and likely will on the 991, but for $295 (997 reference) I'd go Bumperplugs and get them for half price. Great quality too.

If I were in the market, I'd go with Burmester over lame Bose. I have heard it sounds magnificent.

I disagree, although only 10 GT3 knows for sure. His post clearly says "no option for painted exterior warts". I didn't realize that A) the dash wart was part of the exterior, and B) if someone thinks the dash wart is ugly, as 10 GT3 clearly does, why in god's name would you want to draw further attention to it by painting it?

Canadian config let's you paint them...even shows them painted in 3D (Unity player) mode...
