Default The rear end...

I just can't decide if I like the back end of the 991, this being IMHO the biggest change. I almost think I like mine better ( 997.1 C2S ). Something about the skinny recessed taillights. Its like the guy with the really thin mustache....Thoughts?

I am not sure. I want to see it in person. I think it is going to look fine once we see it. Some of the pictures show it from a low angle not from the angle of us standing looking at the back.

Cheers,

I agree. The 991's rear is a little too futuristic looking. It's the only area I really don't care for and there's no doubt in my mind that I like th butt of the 997 better. I love the 997's rear regardless of narrow vs. wide vs. .1 vs. .2, they all look sexy.

Interesting comment Mike, since your avatar seems to show a fondness for classic Porsches. Porsche consistently takes design details or names from it's past and reintroduces them periodically on it's current sports cars. Porsche is very aware of their history and reminds us of it in subtle ways; personally, I like that.

With all the space back there a smaller font might look strange too. Anyway, I'll bet a badge delete option will be available just as it has been in the past for those who prefer a cleaner look.

Ouch, sarcasm . True, I don't have any real complaints. I think Porsche's done a great job with the new car. Hope that's ok with you, Alex.........

Mike is not alone, as a 993 owner I believe the 991 is perfect. I was all set to buy an other brand as my next car. Was quite over new Porsche's. Was planning to keep my 993 as my only Porsche.

Than the pictures of the 991 surfaced. My god, I was blown away. Although the 997 is pretty for sure, it pales in comparison to the 991. So am going to the IAA to see it in real, get the catalogue and dream about it until I can order my new 991 in 2012 for a 2013 delivery. Red/black with black wheels. I am so looking forward to getting my 991.

Yes and no, Porsche offers the delete option for the model name but the PORSCHE logo stays !

What I quite like as an option is the "911" badge option. This eliminates the "Carrera (S)" logo and replaces it with a simple "911" badge under the brand name.
Thank that will look nice.

I agree on the taillights, but not much else is similar now is it?
