Hope it turns out a lot like that! I like everything except the center locks.

I understand the design's been vetted with thousands of hours on the race track, but I really hope they update that big rear wing to something that's a bit less kit car and more in line with the sleeker 991 design language.

I'm not a fan of the RS wing aesthetic. I mean absolutely no harm, no foul for all of you RS owners. I'm a fan! Just OK with design updates/progress. Maybe they'll have active aero like the new Pagani, Mclaren? The stock Carrera wing is already variable.

The current RS wing is a combination of form and function. It looks the part, which is to say it replicates the look of a race car, which is exactly what the RS is supposed to be, a Cup car for the street (as far as one could go). As everyone also knows every homologation race car employs a wing like the RS, so it fits the part.

Second, it follows function, not only does it do its job better than any other active decklid spoiler but it is most likely much lighter, not having to employ the motorized parts.

On topic:

I think the wider longer body is going to do wonders in increasing the sexiness of the 911. I'm already impressed from the stock photos at the aggressiveness of the base models without the GT3 bits. It definitely points to a future GT3/RS model that will look stunning.

What I don't get about the 991, though it's growing on me, is the purpose of moving the side mirrors to the doors - seems less aero and quite obtrusive. Change for change's sake, perhaps?

I figure the door-mount mirrors are just a throwback/homage to the older cars. Change for retro's sake.

Aside from any potential aero considerations, I think it was a good move.

Love it - except I just cant get over those LED strips on the nose. They make the car look funny - like whiskers on a mouse

Wrong, wrong, wrong. Gold edition will be an 8K option on the new one due to popular demand :-) but you do get free decal delete with that.
