looks great....will never own one
I think it looks lower and sleeker than the 997 for sure, the line flow more for me both the front and read side profiles are greatly improved...wonder in person if I will stand there shaking my head saying - it's F%^$ing HUGE!! like I do with so many new cars

Everyone hates the look of the Panamera....what should we do?
Make it look MORE like the 911!
um, no
Make the 911 look MORE like the Panamera...
BINGO!
I think the front end look ridiculous...hate the sliver tail lights.
On the inside, the moved the window controls to the door handle..which seems quite thick and like it would protrude into the cabin space more than the 996/997. Is the cabin wider to accommodate?
I gotta admit. There isn't too much I like about this design. I am very curious to get some true 991 **** though...show me the engine!!

Bleah.. Bigger, fatter, heavier. Meanwhile, Chevy has been taking their Corvette (which I have no intention of ever buying) in the other direction. It is smaller and lighter than the new 991.

The back end really stands out as cluttered with the novela written on there! Geez! Why don't they put the engine size, fuel milage, and horse power on the back too? And maybe a "if you can read this mess you are too close" warning sticker!?
The front bumper looks like it's broken below the top half, thanks to the massive intake ports and LED lights cutting it in half. And the interior looks like a 928 to me for some reason. Too many squared edges?
I think the interior shows how much closer our cars are to "real" Porsches!

He showed the pictures in rennteam.
Soloporsche was the second to publish them, and we received a called from Spanish Porsche Import Dealer (marketing department) to investigate the original point of "these leaked photos". The inception was rennteam, for me the best Porsche forum talking about news and fresh internal information

Carrera S: 3.8 l. 400 HP @ 7.000 rpm
991 Carrera S PDK sport chrono plus 0-100 km/h = 4,1sec (4,3 without sportchrono)

Three Wheelin'
I think it *looks* great but looks only count for so much. It's all about the drive, the performance, the experience.
The 911 raw sports car feel was lost long ago...I'm talking 1989 with the 964. The feeling can always be dialled back in with some well spent $ but the factory setup has been soft and luxurious for what seems lie forever.
Weight-wise - I wouldn't put it past Porsche to make a bigger car lighter than the old model...so don't worry about the size too much.
Long story short....in my opinion it will be a win. If you want a smaller nimbler car, there will always be the Cayman.
Let's wait until the 991 has been on the road for a few years before we judge too harshly. Even better, wait until the GT3 version comes out.
Nobody will be bitching then.

Contrary to popular belief, I believe the 991 is significantly lighter than a 997 (~80lbs), which was also the case for the 996 - which was roughly ~120lbs lighter than the 993.
It's all good and well to argue about the car getting too big, but weight's being nicely kept in check. Nobody's stopping you guys from buying a vastly under performing 80s 911, but don't kid yourselves, as "hardcore" as they were, they're slow by modern standards.
All that said, I'd much rather the car remain smaller. The C6 Corvette was smaller than the 997 already, but it sure doesn't feel/drive like it, so it's not just the physical dimensions...

I would get an old school Turbo instead of a modern basic Carrera any day - that's sure!

Seeing the global market situation, I guess Porsche as it did with the 996-boxster, have decided to reuse material from other models.
This is just the strategy that have been marked with 991, reaching a greater number of customers who not only seek the traditional essence of 911.
Remember what the 996 was criticized mki with eyes´s porsche boxster and what was down the quality of it compared to its predecessor the 993. They sold thousands of units, a success for Porsche who had never sold as many 911.
The decision taken only know them and give them the time or reason. Will survive or even increase sales gain other markets, however, clearly no longer what it was ....
I ask myself a question: Why Ferrari is still in its sports line, with monsters each more radical? Porsche could follow his line and defend its essence.
Ferrari sure that are well done sized and what it intends to sell has everything well tied. Now it seems that Porsche is not very well dimensioned for sales volume above all else ....
The other day, a friend of mine that is a Italy Ferrari owner (with everything that seems radical) told me that his 997S transmit him more than the Ferrari.

It goes both ways. There are also tons of Ferrari owners who have stated that they don't use their 911's anymore because the newer Ferraris are just as reliable but so much more thrilling to drive.
I recently bought a 348 GTS in Dubai that I am trying to bring back to Europe. A 911 would be an addition, never a replacement for a Ferrari. With that said, I think both car makers do what they do best, in each their fields.
