Are those actual pictures or Photoshops? Looks like they might have been doctored a bit. I like it overall but it does seem to draw heavily on certain of the Cayman's design elements. The back-end is kind of fussy with all of the reflectors/lights and shapes..or maybe it's just the engine lid. I'm just not sure about the look of the louvers over the engine area but it's still a beautiful car.

Interesting cut lines around the rear engine cover. Looks like when the spoiler comes up it is similar in shape to the '93-'94 RS America spoiler. Is so, very cool!
I think they are way over-trying on the center console design. Maybe if you are a pilot (or a wanna-be) this appeals to you. Obviously the Panamera/Cayenne designs spilling over into the 911 Series. Someone on another thread commented how the raised shifter base reminded him of the Carrera GT design. I agree.
"Black eye" of the digital gauge to the right of the tach is also Panamera. Didn't like it on the Panamera - really don't like it on the 911 Series.

I also don't like the wedge angle on the side markers - they clash with the curves of the car.
Boy, I sound like an old 911 owner, huh?

Great car but too modern for my taste? Seems that they are taking the sport car out and trying to put more luxury items to it.
And the rear lettering looks WAY too cluttered

I live 8 km far from Carabanchel in a small town called Alcorcon (170.000 inhabitants)
We live very good here, but everybody in Spain are suffering a horrible government and the economic crisis.

It looks like a Cayman from the front and a Panamera Coupe from the rear.
I do like the side profile, but a couple of the other angles don't look quite right. That's too bad because I've always thought the 911 didn't have a bad angle.

Ugly. Those side mirrors and the center console are terrible. I totally agree about trying to turn a sports car into a luxury car...the fattening of the 911.
I'm going to go get a 944 turbo instead...
I think they hit the 997 just right. Even being out since 2005 it still looks like a brand new car and it's nice how you can mistake it for a 993 at first glance because of the headlights.
Yes I own a 996 but I will look for a 997 in the future over this. Yuck.

- Too much lettering
- Too much long (7 cm longer that 997)
- Luxury extra full button interior (not a sport car)
- Horrible blinkers/DRL
- where are the basic sport seats?
- Door panel perfect..... perfect for a Cayenne!
This was the last modern 911 made:
We began a new era. Porsche is looking for Chinese customers, and forgot the 911 purist profile
The car is a GT
Sure It will be faster, lighter, more efficient, but definitively not a real 911 IMHO

I didn't realize the overhangs on the 996 were that much more significant than the 997.
As for the new 991, I like it so far although the center console looks a bit busy. I think like the 997 series this will be the luxury model and then they'll release others with fewer options to satisfy the purists.
For me personally, I'm waiting for a 997 turbo to get down below $60k.

I think it actually looks pretty nice. Like I said in another thread, it's hard to update a classic and make it modern. Personally, I actually perceive the lines of my 2003 C4S in it and can see the "family resemblance".
I have to agree on the lettering, though - but I understand why Porsche did this. They recognize that a large segment of their *new* market wants to ensure that everyone knows how rich they are (or at least that they can qualify for higher lease payments) - and not everyone knew what "Carrera" meant on the last 4 generations of Porsches. On the 991, they are hammering this point home, by saying "Porsche" and "911" - they want to get more of the status conscious buyers.
Oh, and I don't really like the interior either - but I personally feel that the designers nailed it perfectly on the 996, so I'm biased!
