Front driver brakes. The white 4 completely destroys the blue panamera.
A good kill.
That's the first thing I thought when I saw this pic.
Must increase the numbers of pills.

I like the more angular look of the current car. I'm afraid that the 991 is going to have bigger head lights and some sort of swoopy looking front and rear lights for blinkers.

My predictions:

991 GT3 RS will be a lot lighter (100+ lbs lighter) than outgoing Pig (the 2011 GT3 RS 4.0), it will have better handling, more downforce, and it will be faster than the 997 4.0 RS despite of having less power. Ring time in the low 7:20s.

The differences between the GT3 and GT3 RS will continue to extend even more. The GT3 will be moving into the sport daily driver focus while the GT3 RS will move on its track day car focus.

Expect to see the GT3 in 2013, and the RS in 2014, both using the body from the 991 Hybrid (even more aluminum and lighter than the already lighter 2012 991), and expect more Carbon fiber in the GT3 RS (fenders, hood, probably deck lid).

A lot lighter engine (9A1 is lighter than 2008 Carrera S engine, and 2008 Carrera S engine is lighter than any GT3 engine). A lighter transmission with an extra gear for the necessary closer ratios. Optional weight adder PDK. 19" wheels. Center Locks will stay. No need for bigger brakes and the weight they add, just better cooling, given the car lighter weight.

Price increase by 15% at least, and cheaper to make than ever before. Porsche is going to make even more money in the next GT3, and people will quickly forget how special was the last 997. The 996 GT3 will keep gaining appeal, and the 997 will finally lose some.

Fortunately, by that time, Fiat should have the F458 Corsa ready, so total destruction of 2014 GT3 RS Ring Times is expected.

From what I can see so far, I think the 991 is better than the 997 in every category, including the body and interior. I am not sure why so many people are against the interior. It mimics the Panamera interior which I think is the best interior currently available on any car.

I'm looking forward to the 458 corsa, evo, etc (whatever they call it). Maybe I will pick up a used one in 2020.

Well, Porsche fans, owners, purists badly criticized the 996 interior, then the 997 interior, it is natural that they will do it once again in the 991.

I don't mind the part bin sharing, but I do mind the quality and texture of materials used in the interior. On that regard, the 997 lacks a quality interior except if you opt for a series of trim options that when done properly, will kick the MSRP up by $20k. The 996 offered a better interior than the 993, and so did the 997 over the 996, and so is the 991 going to do over the 997.

Porsche will have stronger competitors in 2013, a new F458, a new MP4-12C GT3 road car, an improved GTR, a new C7 Vette and a new Viper.

Minimum performance increments as Porsche has done with the GT3 the past 12 years are not going to cut it in 2013. They might have to consult Alois Ruf on that F8 engine.

In thinking about conerns regarding 9A1 DFI engine, important to keep in mind that "Fiat" currently sports a 9,000rpm redline using DFI. Just sayin'....

Make 2-door panamera (as GT) central to the brand given how they've been presenting it recently (geneva motorshow theater comes to mind as well as Asia orientation) - this should fill GTS and turbo niche as well as share parts bin with other VW brands. Bring out 918 as soon as possible - using the spyder rs bits and pieces refined as the top of the brand. As for 911, why not skip it for few cycles stamping out few limites series here and there. Well, they re-tooled the factory so that's no longer an option. By dropping 911 for a couple of years untill they could bring the concept further (as in to achieve sub 1,000kg platform GT3) and only offer factory upgrades for bit and pieces (electric steering pump, CF panels, clubsport upgrades etc) - surely they would of achieved something more than 991 for the masses.
Looks like Porsche is going this way, at least with rumored two 7 year cycles with 991. http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Secret-...e-derivatives/
