FWIW, there is a bit of a battle regarding the future of VW, Audi and now Porsche mid engine platform cars.
Back when PAG was going go buy VAG, the Boxster/Cayman was the reason many new VAG concepts were not approved.
That is now no longer the case. Audi wants a lower end R8 and may clash with the Cayman/Boxster unless hp/performance levels are agreed upon.
There is also the desire to share a platform for then new low end R8 between Audi and Porsche, similar to the platform sharing between VW and Audi with the TT.
Dr. W is gone (thankfully), it is a new Porsche now, living under VAG rules.

Exactly, they're both horrendous from the rear.

I saw the same group of drivers/cars about a month ago in Marina Del Rey (LA), and I also saw them on the Vegas strip this past week. Must be nice to get paid to drive all over the place in those cars.

I just hope there's not a "Porsche" Golf/Jetta/Eurovan in our future. Weideking strayed from Porsche's roots but there were some fantastic cars during his time. GT3s and all variants, Carrera GT, Cayman etc.

Hate the rear. Does not look like a 911. A co-worker has a Nissan GT-R and it's huge. I love how small my 997 looks in comparison. These photos make the car look big - like the GT-R. Not loving it. Maybe I'll work backwards through time, not forward - add a 993 at some point.

I'm betting that the rear is pure camo. Porsche knows where it's loyal buyers are on the rear end of the car. The 997 is proof of that. They're not going to mess with success. The lines will remain similar. My .02

Are you serious? Do you know what camo means?
The rear end is disguised with faux panels so as not to give away the true shape of the 991. Believe me, the new 911 will look very similar to the current 997.
Then there is the guy posting pics of the Dodge...? WTF, I thought 993 owners were more knowledgeable than other P owners. Can those of you posting these comments really not see the fake body panels attatched to the rear?
