Is it just me or does the car look longer? The front hood appears longer and flat towards the A-pillar...

I thought I read somewhere the new car would be 3-4 inches longer.

The car is not longer (total length). However its wheelbase is 100mm (4") longer, which implies shorter overhangs. The 991 wheelbase is now longer than the Cayman's, making it less 'go-kart... This makes the car fit large footprint cars re EPA rules...
The hood is slightly taller too (to meet EU pedestrian rules), losing the low-hood/high fender original 911 design.

It will be a different car, perhaps a better car, perhaps a more stable car, but farther from its original soul.

These cars are now designed by government bureaucrats.

I read also that the wheelbase is longer but also that the cabin is being moved closer to the front, thereby allowing the engine to move closer to the middle.

Take a look at the profile picture and you can see that.

May be a different car but it has the potential to be great (e.g., lighter, more mid-engine, etc.)

Also, the roof is supposed to be lower, with a more angled windshield.

Car stance looks aggressive to me in those pictures.

Well all of the above comments sure point to the car "appearing" longer in proportions. It will be great to see it when its finally out in the public eye.

The gas filler has moved to the driver's side. Why would they bother?

Some of those pictures have been flipped (look at the watermark "worldcarfan.com"). The filler is still on the right.

In any case, looks like another evolution, not revolution. All is still good in the world.

I'm guessing this next generation 991 will be the last Porsche pure play sans VW influence.

So someone stitched all those old photos from last year into a video - lame. With the car about a year away, you'd think something new would be circulating.

Here's one of those shots with my car (from a similar angle) morphing into it....and voila - I'm at a Shell station in Europe / winter.

It is hard to know how much to write off to camera lens/position distortion and what is really different - side mirrors are different as well as B pillar. The door panel appears to be identical, and the overall shape is very very close - even the fenders are so close it is hard to be sure if the differences are just wide-angle lens distortion. So I wonder, with the age of these photos, if this car was just a camo'd '10 or '11.

The only thing that makes this car look like it's any different from the current car are the wing mirrors. Other than that, the car looks very similar. The placement of the lights on the front look just like the current turbo.

I remember seeing purported 998/991 photos a few years ago and they turned out to be the 997.2...

As Clarkson said, "Porsche designers are lazy"
