RIP. That's a pretty poor guardrail design for a road without a speed limit.

Someone would definitely be making some $$ here. The gov't, Porsche, the guardrail installer, the guardrail maker, and the steel supplier would be sued at a minimum. And someone would likely call it an "economic stimulus".

A German guy on our local list had the observation that, basically, the center dividers are free hanging with maybe 50 meters of a gap so they can open them up quickly for construction or accidents to put traffic to the opposing lane. Hitting in the middle of one of those would easily allow the nose to go under, according to him.

Yeah, heard this earlier, really tragic.

I can't explain that guardrail, but wouldn't be surprised if the Germans push for a fix.

Of course Rosemeyer lost it in his Auto Union in the same general area on the A5, the original stretch of Autobahn there south of Frankfurt.....

Porsche should give this guy a little Denkmal in their new museum....sad.

High speed driving at night in february - very high risk of black ice and it does not take much to lose control.

I have crashed a Porsche in the same type of driving this time of year. I guess I was lucky to bounce between the concreted dividers instead of going under or over them..
