Protocol question: Have a new set of wheels (genuine Porsche, nothing aftermarket). Dealer tire pricing (PS4S) is slightly better than tire rack so figured I’d just take the car there and have them put new tires on the car and these new wheels. New wheels do not have TPMS sensors. TMPS sensors on my car work fine. Car is a 2013. Unsure if sensors have ever been replaced. Car has 26K miles on it. Maybe they have? Maybe not?
Should I buy sensors from https://www.tpmsbargains.com/Huf-Int...m-1216-911.htm and install them on the new wheels myself? Then take the wheels and have them put new tires on? Or just have hte dealer dismount, discard the old tires, swap my old sensors over?

I have some vague memory of the Range Rover / Land Rover dealer throwing a tantrum about sensors at a tire / wheel change years ago. Basically - requiring I buy new ($$$) sensors from them at a wheel tire change. and refusing to swap them over for whatever reason.
if you're going through the process of getting new wheels and tires, you might as well go ahead and replace the TPMS sensors while you're at it. If you don't know when or if they were every changed, it would be a bummer for one or more of the batteries to die on you after you have the new tires mounted and balanced.
You can call and get a price from the dealer you're having the service done at. I bought OE TPMS sensors from Pelican Parts for my old 997 that were quite a bit cheaper than the Porsche branded ones, but they're the same manufacturer. I doubt the dealer would give you a hard time if you bought your own and had them install them when they go to mount the tires. That might be your most cost effective option.
I think if I recall the TPMS sesnsors have to be programmed for the car. I think you can buy them preprogrammed at Tire Rack or other vendors but generic ones from Amazon may or may not be programmed. This may have to do with the stink you got before from an installing dealer.

Most will come programmed. I've purchased from TPMS.com before and they worked great. They re-learned within 15min of driving as described in the manual.
One thing I don't understand is how the car knows which corresponds to which corner. On my wife's explorer you have to "train" them using a little RF (presumably) device in concert with a process on the onboard menu. I've never done this with my Porsches, though, and now I'm curious how it knows...
I bought four new sensors from TPMSbargains.com for a total of around $119. They are German orange Huf Intelisens. Basically the same as the Porsche genuine parts without the label. I think each Porsche part is around $120. Idk.
Anyways, I had all four new Carrera S III wheels installed today with new sensors - programmed immediately - no issues.
Interestingly, I am looking at my old wheels and the date code on all of my old TPMS sensors (Genuine Porsche black Huf and still working fine…. )
is 2012/2013 (2 of them). So I am very glad I did this.
They came in a bag with a note that said “ these are programmed for your 2012 through 2016 Porsche 911 nonturbo install them and drive”. The tech wanted to plug in his computer and do something, but I refused to let him do it.
So — I went into the TPMS settings and changed to 19 inch wheels and then immediately changed back to summer 20 wheels. It learned TPMS in two minutes of driving above 15 miles an hour and they were programmed. Perfect. Do not pay for the genuine Porsche sensors. They are the exact same sensors you get from this place and they are 4x the price.
