High brake light warning light
Have a 2014 911S. When restarting the car after the engine is already hot, the "Check High Brake Light" warning light will frequently turn on, especially when the ambient temperature is high. After driving it again for awhile, especially after the rear wing raises, the warning light will turn off again. Sounds like an overheating issue but what can I do to keep this from happening?
Thank you for the prompt response. Newbie question: I had the rear wing wiring harness replaced because the rear wing would not work at all before. It works normally now but is within the same harness or is it a separate wire?
Thanks for everybody who has posted regarding the high brake light. I had the same issue where the wire was broken in the same spot as everybody else.
I have a 2016 GTS and bought part number 991-612-881-01-OEM for the replacement wiring harness. First, can somebody confirm that's the right part? While pelican says it is, it seems like the wiring is too tight for the spoiler to properly function. I'm wondering if the GTS is different in some way, like if the spoiler extends higher, requiring a longer wire. The wiring securely clips in many different places, so there is not a huge amount of opportunity to install the harness incorrectly.
I'd also like to caution people who are in the fence about doing this repair themselves or not. Go to an Indy shop and have them do it. I'm probably 5 hours into this and it's been a pain in the a$s.
I'm also still having problems:
1) While the high brake light and spoiler worked for a few minutes post install, now they don't work again. I'm concerned I broke the same wire in the new wiring harness by having the wire installed .0003 inches off where it should be
2) I had a code brown moment where I was unable to open my rear engine cover. This problem has typically resulted in either a) people spending 3+ hours getting it open or B) people paying $500+ for somebody else to work it out. The issue was a barely loose connector.

Alright so I took everything apart again and put it all back together and it all works now. The repeat job took me 15% of the time it took during my first attempt.
I did have to slide the wiring a little bit from inside the spoiler to give the wire more slack around where the spoiler goes up and down.
