Default Oil Change

Would you do an oil change after one year if the car has only gone 1800 miles, none of which were short trips....

That's Porsche abuse.

I'm not an oil expert but that's a good question I need to send to the oil guy I follow on youtube.

Yes. I'd follow the maintenance manual. It's miles and time based.

Moisture and stuff can collect in the oil. Best to change it yearly like the owners manual says. Oil change is easy on these cars too.

You don't have to but it's good to maintain a yearly oil change. I only change mine once per year but then again I only drive maybe 3000 miles per year. I would if I were you

While I still do just to keep in sync with the onboard, degradation is a problem when you do lots of short trips only, time does NOT degrade oil (note filters won't last forever) so you can easily extend another year.

THAT is exactly what I am thinking....Oil in the Macan gets changed every year, a ;ot of short trips, and about 7,000 miles a year
Another thought, Brake fluid flushes, In the old days brake fluid got changed (maybe) at brake shoe replacements...could be years... these days with much better systems and better brake fluids...every 2 years..??

the owner's manual says to do it. it's your choice to ignore that recommendation.

Brake fluid intervals are a combination theorical degradation in fringe cases and ensuring reliability of ABS systems. Most people can go longer, people who don't live near a mountain can probably get away with never changing it until their ABS pump gives out. In reality you want to really avoid wet fluid so you can get a tester but I would never go over 5 years (brake fluid does not circulate, testing at reservoir is only a limited indicator).

Owners manual also states that you cannot repair a puncture. ..so you buy a new tire at $400 every time you get a nail in one FOR STREET DRIVING ?

Why ask if you do not like the answer. Just do what you want.

I repair punctures in an emergency situation and haven't had any issues.

Just had my rear tires replaced because I had punctures next to the outside edge on both that Discount Tire would not repair.

Thank goodness I purchased road hazard.... $740 worth of tires replaced for $150.
