Who here has done PPF on their windshield / windscreen? If so, and if you liked it, what brand?
How about “tear-off” or temporary windshield PPF for track days/weekends? I spoke with some people who said they do this instead of more permanent PPF prior to track events.

Exoshield. Installed about 3.5 years ago, in good condition and would install again. Cost about $400. Installer said wipers can be hard on it, my T has not seen rain.

I have it on my 2016 Z06 Corvette. I track the car and the first time I tracked the car was shocked how bad the windshield got pocked. The track was part of the reason (rougher than normal asphalt).
The product is Expel, and have peeled if off once, but needs to be peeled and reapplied now. I am not sure I would do it on a street car because you can tell its on the windshield especially when the sun is shining at a certain angle. However, it certainly protects the windshield.

After my first HPDE running my Lexus RCF I noticed all these tiny, barely visible marks in my windshield. After that I had my PPF installer add the windshield kit to my car to prevent further damage. It stays on all the time, not a peel off thing.
I’d never run a track day without the added PPF on the windshield. If I remember correctly I think it was $500.

Just for clarity, windshield protection film such as Exoshield is not ppf.
I have it on my GT3 and so far so good. The few times I have used my windshield wipers, it's a little rough on it (wipers hop a bit or drags - it's a bit sticky).

That’s probably correct. I can’t remember exactly what they called it but it was only for windshield applications. I haven’t notice much difference in the operation of my windshield wipers.

What is the cost of a new OEM windshield installed?

Had it. Wouldn’t bother doing it again for a street car.
Great idea for track use though.

I paid $1300 on my 991.2 about 5 years ago. A new OEM window for my 992 GT3 is over $4k which is why I got the protection on it. It's more expensive because of the light weight glass I guess. I also track that one too so it makes sense.

$2600 at Porsche dealership in 2022, replaced with OEM windshield. Needed due to debris kicked up from vehicle in front of me that hit on driver's side about 1/3 up from bottom left corner and about 3/4" from the edge of the windshield, causing the initial crack to quickly spread within the next 2 miles of driving. Camera re-calibration needed for PDLS+ LED headlights. New windshield has already receiving several chips and pock marks from driving on highways in lower peninsula of Michigan from trucks hauling crushed limestone.
