One life to live. If you want it, buy it. Knowing you can sell it again for a similar price later. Think of it as parked money.

So is the 991.1 GTS going to be the last 911 NA GTS?

Sorry, are you saying they announced NO more manual at all in the 911? Or you’re just speculating because they’ve released info on the base Carrera and GTS and you’re assuming no more manual for the rest? Because the base Carrera hasn’t had a manual for five years now, so no surprise it still don’t have one. The GTS got the new hybrid, automatic only, lame, but seems like a logical choice given the drivetrain and how the electric motor is incorporated into the transaxle. But my assumption has been if you still had desire for manual, I figured they’d still be selling the T, S and GT3 with manual same as before. I haven’t seen any press material stating otherwise. So did they release some news about the manual being completely killed off or is this speculation?

Despite people constantly raising the hope that Porsche will put a NA motor in a 992 Carrera variant, there seems to be zero indication that is going to happen. But let's suppose they did. I still think the 991.1 Carrera motor offers a far more enticing NA experience. The emissions and noise regulations that Porsche will have to satisfy would neuter the NA engine sound. For reference, compare the 981 Boxster/Cayman to the 718 Boxster/Cayman GTS. Yes, both are NA, but there is zero argument about which generation has the more emotive sound.

if a car is going to use that hybrid drivetrain a manual isn't really possible. so maybe they will continue with the 3.0 twin turbos for a while and maybe they will offer a manual there.

I get the hybrid isn’t compatible with manual, but they still have the non-hybrid motor in the Carrera so I figured good chance that remains for the T and S (for now).

Look at it this way, $85k in 2016 is about the equivalent of $110k now. So in reality, that car is less expensive.
