Questions about 2017 experience/potential buy
I test drove a base 2017 with 58,000 miles today. asking 74.
I had a few concerns about the car and I have no point of reference.
The interior was very very squeaky not in driving just with everything rubbing together and the front seats would rub into the backseats. i dont recall the 2023 i drove doing anything like that. The car does seem to be the victim of an armor all attack which may explain that.
The doors felt loose like there was a hitch in the middle of them or they had a bit of 40 mission droop. They close and stay in place perfectly though.
The most concerning thing to me was the automatic transmission it felt quite a bit different than the 992 I drove. When I was paddle shifting it was very snappy and immediate but in fully automatic mode it did feel like it hunted a little bit and then it would pop into gear and sort of a jarring snappy way. I’m not sure if that’s normal or I’m just not used to performance automatic transmission anymore.
I would appreciate any input on that or anything I should poke at if I go take a second look
thank you!

Cast your search net far and wide, and don't compromise if it doesn't feel right.
I bought my car 2 states away and it was a painless transaction.
You'll certainly find the right car because your criteria is quite unreasonable

yeah that’s really good idea. I expanded my search a couple hundred more miles and found a few in day trip range that look pretty enticing.
I’m not sure how fast the CPO cars move off of the lots but hopefully they’ll still be there when I have a chance to get down there.

PDK should feel "right" -- not slushbox-y.
Doors should not feel odd at all.. no sagging catching etc etc on any 991 (*or 992) I've ever encountered.
Interior should be silent (ish). I have one headliner rattle on my 991, every thing else vault like.
A huge turn off for me is a vehicle that's had greasy armor all applied as well...
Drive another 2017 and see what you think. Agree with others.

If your car is CPO the Porsche dealer should have done a major service to the car - plugs, air filter, brake fluid and oil change. Check me on these limits of coverage, a CPO includes a 20,000 mile, two year warranty from time of purchase. I wouldn't purchase a 991 used Porsche without a CPO certification. A good condition (25 - 35k miles) CPO 991.2 2017 Carrera S will be in the range of $85 - $95k. I'd go the extra money for CPO because the cost of repairs on a non CPO is very expensive. The good news is a well cared for 991 is very reliable other than the water pump issue (991.2) which has an extended 10 yr. warranty on it.

As others said go drive a few to give you some perspective. I have a 17 C4S, no squeaks except in the top (cab) when it's cold. I mean zero...
Regarding the PDK it works differently in each mode. In normal mode it's a pretty lazy, easy shift. In Sport it's a bit quicker/snappy. In Sport + it's downright violent.
You can always get a PPI at a dealer or an Indy that has Porsche experiance. I'd recommend that on any car, the costs of PDK or engine issues can be prohibitive.

The more I think about it that 2017 definitely does not pass the vibe check.
