Replace center console sunroof / targa control switches?
I have a 991.2 targa gts. The chrome outline around the targa roof toggle switches it starting to peel off. A little has come off completely but most of it is still there but loose.
the porsche dealership wants $350 in parts and $500 in labor to replace the entire center console assembly. I think it requires reprogramming which means I’m likely stuck with the dealer.
this is the part from suncoast
is there really no other option? I’m the second owner (first owner was Arizona which is likely how this happened via heat) and I have extended porsche service protection but it doesn’t seem to cover interior “wear” items like this.
Is this something a local interior specialty shop could touch up? Is there no way to just replace the switch caps?

My sunroof close switch actually peeled off and cut my finger. I took it in and was covered under CPO. The entire switch group is replaced by one assembly.

pics?
maybe try wrapping it in chrome vinyl then cutting out the center portion leaving the outer chrome edge

I took some pics for detail. The open button is mostly intact but has a crack that can cut into my finger and is starting to bubble. The close switch has started coming off. Maybe I should complain it’s a safety hazard to my fingers?

I'd scrap off the peeling pieces and wrap it in black. I think that would look pretty good.

I don’t want an aftermarket solution - I want to keep the stock look if possible.
I don’t understand why the individual key caps are not replaceable…!! Annoying.
I will pursue the warranty route.

I've never done just a switch repair, but parts are available online: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806437980912.html
