Default What ~$1000 Accessory would you buy first?

Guys,

I need direction. The Minister of Finance has approved a $1,000 purchase of something. I have a 2013 Base PDK almost entirely unmodified. Stock exhaust, PASM suspension.

Here are the options i have considered:

1) Local sale of a FabSpeed SuperSport X Pipe $750

2) trying to snag a newer flappy paddle steering wheel. There is one in the marketplace around $1000 and i know i would need to kick in another $500 or so for a GPS adapter

3) DCS controllers seem to be around this $1000 mark if you can find htem used or something like $1300 new.

So, what should i do?

Those 3 options are great. If it were me, i think the new steering wheel would do it for me.

I just picked up my 2014 C2S that has the old "boomerang" style ugly push style paddles and its got to be the WORST thing ive ever delt with. So id say do that personally.

I'd pick the steering wheel. Your minister of finance would appreciate the difference and be more likely to approve future budget proposals. I also hate 991.1 MF wheel, I have one and I'm itching to change it. I've had my 991.1S non-SC or PSE Cab since December and here are the things I've spent money on so far. You'll notice that I don't include exhaust below but I have a S non PSE car and although I'd like something a little louder at times I don't want any drone and my car sounds really good with the current OEM valved system. I'm also happy with the power after the tune so the 25HP-35HP gain from $6K exhaust upgrade is not a priority. I'd be careful about just adding exhause bypass to later regret the annoying drone. You'd probably be better off waiting and adding a valved system with drone reduction tubes.

1. Mr12volt Carplay ($495) - awesome addtition that I use whenever I drive
2. Smartop module ($395) very convinient and needed if you have a cab
3. Magnetic stone guards ($190)
4. Cobb Accessport with PDK Tune ($1400) **No doubt this has biggest impact on the driving fun factor and I'd highly recommend it. This completely changed the car and added launch control.
5. SC clock from amazon ($420) My car is not SC and this really added to the cars interior. Very nice upgrade
6. Thinkdiag diag tool ($95 on amazon) allows you to reset CEL, reset service and several coding options. (alot for under $100)
7. 991.1MF wheel to 991.2 MF wheel (Pending)
8. Radiator grills (Pending)
9. Techart rear spoiler, front splitter and side skirts (pending)

Definitely flappy paddle steering wheel. There is a good reason porsche doesn't do the buttons anymore. It will also instantly make your interior look and feel more modern.
DSC or exhaust is a tougher choice. DSC can be quite subtle and you get used to it really quick, which can make it feel like it's not worth the money and exhaust is subjective, I think NA engines already sound very good.

Steering wheel. No doubt.

DSC won’t yield the satisfaction and feedback the new wheel will.

(I have DSC on my 991.2 C4 GTS and like it but don’t think it deserves the praise it gets. )

Steering wheel upgrade. Next best thing to buying a new car, and a lot cheaper.

Depends how you use the car. I primarily use mine as a canyon cruiser, and my #1 pick would be the DSC. My car is also a 991.2 with a nice steering wheel stock, so my first thought didn’t go to the steering wheel. However, I also agree a good shift **** and steering wheel are excellent items to pick up. Depending on your preference either is a good way to go.

It sounds like you have several good options, so that helps when shopping the used market. You can just keep an eye out for the first good deal and go with that and save the other items for later upgrade.

I have to throw in carbon fiber or alcantara interior trim if your car doesn’t have it.

Mine doesn’t, and one of the only things I don’t love about it is that the plastic metal trim inside is roughly the same thing people get in a Honda Civic.
