992.1 as 992.2 will be hybrid. 992.1 is the end of an era.

If you want a fast car get a 991.2 or 992. If you want a car that sounds good get a 991.1.

Hmmm ... I would say the 991.1 was the end of the era ... turbochargers for the run of the mill 911s ruined the car, making it even more common ... just an opinion.

The 991.1 PCM can be modified to have CarPlay. It took me about 5 hours to do it myself and it has totally transformed the interior of the car and the driving experience from within the vehicle. So, I'd vote for a 991.1 with the NA engine with an upgraded infotainment system.

Maybe ask the same question on the 992 forum.

Pretty sure you'll get some very different answers.

With some patience you could find a killer 991 GTS with a manual OR a pdk and keep a little coin under the mattress!

I went through this same thing in January and ended up with a 991.1. A friend has a 992 but imo it’s lacking sound even with the Sport exhaust. I also hated all the piano black trim and buttons. Imo the 991.1 is perfect but only you can figure which is right for you.

People always try to justify their purchases, especially large ones, doubly so for ones they tie to their personal identity as car nuts often do. If something is part of someone’s identity then insults against that thing are instantly taken as personal insults against that person, making even logical critique and discussion difficult. The 992 owners will defend their choice as will the 991. They’re both great cars and you’re pretty damn lucky to be driving either.

I always find it interesting, that for most people the Porsche you own is the perfect one.....until you have more money for a more perfect one. I still ascribe to the mantra, buy the newest, highest trim level you can afford and makes you the happiest. The opinions of others are meaningless. You know the old sayings, "free advice is worth exactly what you pay for it" opinions and excuses are like A-holes, everybody has one and they all stink" Including mine.

I had a 992 on order but ended up cancelling it before my build locked. I decided to keep the 991.1. The 991.1 interior build quality feels more solid, and the 992 interior just felt kind of meh to me. Also, the NA engine sounds better to me.

The only downside to the 991.1 is the steering software setting it shipped with, which is an easy thing to change. (See thinkdiag threads etc.)

True, but many came from 991's and can offer their experience with both. My 992 is my first Porsche, so I can't really weigh in on this one. I'm one of the non-purist who really likes forced induction and the sound.

Me too. I find it amusing is that if you like old school technology you are a considered a purist. If you like the best technology has to offer you are a ....non-purist. I suppose this thought process is flawed in the sense that if you are a guy driving a 993 air cooled NA MT Porsche another more pure purist prefers a Model T, a horse or a bicycle? I tend to doubt there are any purists racing Formula 1 and winning. When looking at a Ferrari F430 at a local spot some years ago, Jay Leno tapped me on the shoulder and said " I don't know about you but for me shifting with paddles is like having sex with a condom"
When I become a purist I will be looking for a car with a crank handle instead of an electric starter to really enjoy the pure automotive experience.
