Default Trading my 991.2 Carrera 4s Cabriolet for a C8 Z06

It was a tough decision, but a deal came up for me on a Brand New 2024 C8 Z06 Convertible out of state.
I have a 2015 Porsche 991.1 Turbo S cabriolet and a 2017 991.2 Carrera 4s Cabriolet.

I can't part with the Turbo S, it is my dream car and I do love the Carrera, but I can't afford to keep 3 high end cars.

I will say, I will miss the sound of the Carrera with the PSE, sounds much more Porsche than my 991.1 Turbo S.
It was a lot of fun to manually shift the Carrera and get that flat 6 growl.

The Turbo S has aftermarket exhaust and cats and sounds great, but not as much like a traditional Porsche.

I am sure the C8 Z06 will sound amazing, I just hope the DCT lasts longer than the one in my previous C8 Z51 which only lasted 3k miles.
GM did right by me and bought the car back.

Monday they are delivering the Z06 to my home and picking up the Carrera.

I know I will miss it, was a gorgeous build.

I'm just glad you're keeping the Turbo S!

I knew you would say that, long time no see!

Love the Turbo S, I wouldn't mind a new one, but too rich for my blood right now.

Here is to hoping the engine doesn’t fail on your Z06, don’t want more bad luck.

That would suck, I am hoping it's a good one

It is unfortunate they are not available in a manual transmission.

If it were a true weekend car I would agree, but I daily drive both my sports cars and it would not be practical.
I did it for years, but traffic just gets worse and worse year after year.

You can still downshift and upshift with the PDK and DCT with the added benefit of much faster shifts, but I must admit, there is something fun about pressing the clutch in and shifting, but not at the expense of being caught in a traffic as I tend to daily my sports cars.

I noticed I do not take my PDKs and DCTs out for long fun cruises nearly as much as I did with my true manual transmission cars.
I am hoping the C8 Z06 changes that with that engine sound.

Great choice really! I did the deposit thing with a dealer (the wrong one as it turns out) for the z06 before it had even been officially revealed but various dealership games last year and waiting 3yrs already with no end in sight made me lose interest and go back to the tts.
But the tweaks they did to the z06 styling and overall proportions really make the car look better and of course the engine is just unreal.

I’m a car guy more than a brand guy so I think that’s a great choice, really hope you enjoy it!

Good luck with that. I have a 991.2 C4S cab and a C8 Z06. The Z06 is amazing but it's not for me. I'm selling it...

I am the same way, I love all cars, not brand specific.
I never do deposits, I wait for the "gotta haves" to get their cars at crazy mark-ups, then I search and find one on a lot for a fair price.
Usually 1-2 years after they start being delivered to the 1st people.
My regular C8 I waited much longer, but I really was not in love with that car, my wife wanted it. Bought it 3/2023 for $5K adm only because it was the exact build I wanted locally.
Once the widebody Vettes come out, the base ones lose all appeal to me.

Interesting, I can understand why the 991.2 Carrera 4s cab appeals to you, I really enjoyed mine, but what did you not like about the Z.
Was it too high strung for the street? I know it likes to rev. I tend to drive normal, so this could be an issue.
Was it too large?

I have a comfortable daily driver with an automatic for city use. My Porsches are always on back roads and never in bumper to bumper traffic. Both of mine are manuals although I have driven PDKs on the track.

But I have to wonder why some 911s are available as either a manual or PDK and others are not.

Dollars and cents...
I think it costs more for Porsche to have two transmissions, it is much easier to build a car one way.

@yell03 I have a few cars and it came down to drive time. When I want to go somewhere I just don't ever reach for the Z06 key. It's either the C4S (I do live in FL so top down is nice this time of year), one of my other cars, or the GT3 Touring if I want a manual. I don't find the Z06 high strung, it's actually more comfortable than any of my other cars. It is huge and a pain in the rear to park pretty much anywhere but really a pain to get into my garage. Won't fit on my lift, won't fit in my off site parking, etc. So I don't know why but it just never grew on me...

It is a big car.
Mine arrived today and for 500 miles I must keep it under 4000rpms, but the sound is insane, even at low rpms.
Mine is a convertible, so top down is great.
The front end lift is a huge plus.

I like it better than my 991.2 c4s cabriolet, both great cars, but very different.
If I didn't have my Turbo S, I would definitely be very happy with the Z and the c4s.
You have a GT3, the Z is kind of the same, but larger and without the fun of a full manual.
In your case, the Z is not necessary.
