Leather seat ruined by a steamer
Hey all,
My son was trying to surprise me by detailing my car, he used a steamer on the leather seat and unfortunately, it singed a good portion of it. (Did a phenomenal job otherwise, A for effort kiddo) It's slightly harder than the rest of the leather and it looks like some color came off too. It's beyond repair, I tried leather conditioner to see if it would make any difference at all and well, nothing.
Is this a way to fix this without buying a whole new drivers seat? What are my options like in a situation like this?

If you don't use neatsfoot oil as your leather conditioner, consider giving that a try. Might take a few soaks to get it supple again.
As far as the colour, leather dye should do fine.

Hard to tell without touching the leather to make sure its not physically cracked, but visually that appears to be easily fixable by a leather shop. Should be $75 - $100 dollar repair.
Leather is tough.
Best of Luck!

I’ve seen a lot of seat issues lately, Second the Colour Lock suggestion (it is British). Here’s a wild one. Might this be an opportunity to change out the centers for something plaid?

If it's just a few scratches or scuffs on your leather, you could try out some leather repair kits. They usually have colors that match and can do a decent job fixing up the look.
But if the damage runs deep and your leather's really messed up, you might need to consider replacing that part. Hit up some local upholstery shops or even those car detail folks – they can sometimes work their magic on these problems without burning a hole in your pocket.
