Default 991.2 Exhaust Fi vs IPE

Hi All,

This new member with a 991.2 with PSE needs and advice
I am planning to buy a Fi or IPE exhaust and my preference is to have a more high frequency note.
Which ever I pick, will go with a cat delete.
I couldn't find a video or any for a side by side comparison between two.

Any comments will be appreciated.

Thanks
Alper.

As a dealer for FI, I'm inclined to recommend their products over IPE. However, exhaust sound is a highly subjective matter. If possible, I'd suggest listening to both exhausts in person to determine sounds best to you.
If that's not doable, YouTube is a good alternative

Go with sport cats or a cat delete first.

Most people will be satisfied with just that change. The stock PSE is free flowing and not a large performance snag, unless you're overly concerned with weight.

Put the bucks for the exhaust in the stock market, then pull out when you want an F car with a better exhaust note?

After installing catless pipes, will I get an engine check light?

Does catless pipes will clog the stock muffler?

Yes.
You will need a tune to remove the CEL.

There is nothing to clog up a stock muffler. Removing the cats will only result in the car smelling like a car without catalytic convertors.

I have (still have) had cars without catalytic convertors and it is a very distinctive odor.

As long as you are moving you don't notice it, but at a stop light depending on the direction of the wind it is annoying.

Just looking at the both systems, the Fi appears it would be louder.

That being said, you're not going to get a high pitch note with these 3.0T motors unfortunately. I have the full SpeedTech system with HJS high flow cats. It doesn't use any mufflers. Its not going to get much louder than this and I can tell you its not very loud. You hear more of a turbo sound than an exhaust sound.

I highly recommend the SpeedTech Switch-X with HJS cats if you want loud and higher pitched.
