I wonder if government regulations to use plastics that degrade over time has any impact on car plastics or is just the case of using the lowest cost supplier.
I broke some intake pipes on a 5 year old BMW while replacing a thermostat. They were probably plant based plastics that degraded fairly quickly.
I replaced both lenses on my 991.1 (2013 model). It was a pain but it can be done. I bought the lenses online (no- OEM) and so far they are holding pretty good (no cracks).
I also add a sticker just for fun!
I wonder if I can do this to other vehicles having the same issue??
Let.mr know what do you guys think!
Want to bump this up for this comment - my dealer had a similar reaction - how did others get covered by CPO?
I copied lots of thread posts I'd found where other owners had their lenses covered under CPO and submitted that to Porsche. Also provided pics of others Porsche cars with similar issues to show this is a design defect so it should be covered. Ended up finding out Porsche had just written a memo to dealers to let their service depts know not to cover the headlight issue any longer. What my local service manager ended up telling me anyway. Thats probably why some were previously getting the headlights covered under warranty and they stopped.
With so many experiencing the same issue it is obvious that it is a defect and should be covered.
991.1 just replaced under CPO. Shocked! They replaced both headlight modules. In & out in a little over an hour. I got a glance at the parts invoice; $ 11,758! I have my guesses how this happened, but certainly not complaining:-) I might stop driving at night if I had to write that check.

did you tell them anything in particular to get them replaced under CPO? Im having this issue and have CPO until next year so looking to get this done if possible.
Spoke directly with the Service Manager. I do tax returns in my fading years & have been quoted, “The story is in the telling”. The phraseology describing a deduction/expense can make a difference. I described the issue before we went to look at the car, closing with, “This is a major safety issue at night”. He took a few pics, sent to the Rep & called him. He called the next day to inform me it was approved.
Did the safety comment make a difference? Did the rep approve without talking to Atlanta? I’ll never know, but needless to say, did not question the decision.
FWIW, just aiming the lights at a wood fence, the difference with the new modules is astounding.
I have seen the mixed results on the posts here, so good luck.
So we have our headlights delaminating, spoiler spring housings cracking, reverse switches failing (in the transmission), doors warping, headliners sagging, and that's only in the first 10 years.
Please don't tell me that their quality hasn't gone down the drain.

Well compared to IMS explosions and completely engine failure, none of the stated issues above cause you to be stuck on the side of the road with a dead motor.
And almost ALL can be repaired by DIY or vendors that can be found here, except for the transmission issue, which is covered under a very extended warranty.
I have over 105k miles on my manual C2S with plenty of track and canyon miles and the car has been the most reliable sports car I have every owned. The only other car that was more reliable or equally reliable is my 2006 Toyota 4runner.
CPO warranty really is in the hands of the dealer. If it doesn't affect function any you haven't been doing reach arounds with the dealer with $580 oil changes, $790 battery replacements, $400 alignment then the dealer may just deny. Key is to say it affects beam pattern and is a distraction which makes it unsafe at night. Have that documented on the service ticket. I pretty sure they will cover.......
@MPawelek - I had exactly the same happen to mine (Targa 4S). I can't believe it would be from sunlight. I live in Iowa and drive quite a bit - had at the time when I replaced about 50K miles on the odometer. The sun isn't extremely intense here and I always have the car in the garage when home. Not sure what caused it, but had both my complete headlights PCNA covering 50% of the cost. Still about $4K. At the time I wasn't aware of Rennlights and their services, but most likely would go that route today if I was in the same boat. The dealership stated they had seen some as I suspected if they got PCNA to cover 50%. They did not have anything to say about what may have caused it. I did put PPF on the new units.
This is where the reach arounds really help in getting the dealer to decide to cover. Again when CPO is involved it's the dealer interpertation of the CPO warranty to approve or not....
But if the STEALER ( DEALER ) denies your request or you do not have a CPO etc, then the only option is to send them off to get fixed for $800-1200 or buy new ones @$1500+ each
Or do a DIY, get the lenses for about $100 and grab nut sack and do it. I like to modify and tinker and this project was fairly easy. Just because it's a Porsche, does not make it more complicated to replace a headlight.
And 9.1.1 I borrowed your Porsche sticker inside. Great idea. Thanks

@HardRider - I replaced mine long time ago. They covered 50% which I appreciate as i was way out of CPO by then. Still$4K though. PDLS+.
