The only possible way this changes is if every single one of you messages them.
What a great opportunity for another vendor to step in and meet customer demand.

Putting in the vents the way we did caused no increased drag! It also did not reduce the top speed on a straight track as far as we can get it before and after spoiler install. Seems like we nailed the science. I tried to upload the video of the interior build of the spoiler to reduce turbulence and direct flow but it’s over the limit. I can send by email if anyone is interested.

Where is the shop located that did this work for you? Would they be interested in modifying another ducktail? Since most of the hard work (engineering) is already done, seems like a good opportunity for some of us to finally get a ducktail.

Now it’s off to get primed and painted. Will post photos when it’s all done and let everyone know! Can’t wait to have the ducktail done and finally back for my 991.2!!
The "911" badge on the back looks SUPER ****ed up. You gotta redo that with the proper alignment it looks like Maaco put it on after a cheap respray.

I think it looks fantastic. But I don’t understand why no one extends the ducktail out further into the airflow for decent downforce. Yes downforce is drag, but a little drag is good. These things have tons of power, a little drag will stabilise them, not slow them down.

This is a badass project. Congrats on taking this on and more importantly, getting it to work well.

Would kill for a simple solution to have a ducktail on my .2 C4S.

yeah I’ve begged shops for one and just been laughed at.

No one wants to do it.

I had the same experience, so after 5 and a half years of nagging, I finally decided to take the project on.

Met with the Composites company developing a 991.2 Ducktail on Friday. The molds should be under construction soon.

Picture is 3D printed model made from 3D scan derived design.

3D printed model made to do final refinement on prior to production of final molds.

As a bit of market survey, what would preferences be between: 1. Clear Carbon Fiber, 2. Carbon Fiber in primer or 3. Fiberglass in primer for $250 less than Carbon Fiber pricing (currently undetermined)?

As currently proposed this Ducktail would use the existing baseplate and center mounted brake light which would require disassembly of the motorized wing. The disassembly took me 30 minutes the first time I did it.
The alternative would be to source the baseplate and light from a recycler.

Updates in the not-too-distant future.

The ducktails aren't for downforce. It's to REDUCE drag.
