Default 2012 911 Carrera S Cab Rear Window Problem

If I press the auto up on either rear window it goes half way up and then back down. It appears that the pinch safety mechanism is activating. I have to slowly put the window up halfway and then up the rest of the way. Although if the doors are open then the auto up works perfectly on both windows. There does not appear to be any pressure on the rear window area with the doors closed. Any ideas? Thanks.

This gets brought up probably once every 2-3 months on RL. If you search, there are several threads about it, but in summary, it's the beginning of window regulator failure. Very common on the rear windows of cab models. All in with parts and labor, around $2-3k per side.

Have you gone through the reset procedure?

Try this:
  1. lower window all the way down and release switch.
  2. push switch down, hold it down for 3 seconds, and release.
  3. raise window all the way and release switch.
  4. pull switch up, hold it for 3 seconds, then release.
  5. turn car off and back on.

That was happening on my 2017, someone here recommended a stick of lubricant that you apply to the rubber gaskets, that worked for mine. I would try that before a big $$ repair.
Found it on Amazon,

nextzett 91480615 'Gummi Pflege Stift' Rubber Care Stick - 3.4 fl. oz
