Evap line replacement requires engine drop?

Just got a call from my dealer, I dropped the car off for an inspection and they said something had chewed through my evap line (my CEL went off this week). They are saying they have to drop the engine to replace the evap line, does this sound correct? Seems insane that a evap line couldnt be patched or replaced without dropping the engine. I am waiting on pictures now, I can post when I get them.

which evap line? what year car?
I know there's the vacuum generator line on the driver side turbo on the 991.2s that is a single part from the turbo to the back, top of the engine that requires lowering the engine out of the car to replace, so it's not unheard of.
Welcome to the wonderful world of the 911 -- a bad idea perfected.

Ouch, that sucks.
Without knowing which line that is (I can't identify it from that pic) I can only assume it's one of the long lines that wraps around the whole engine.
Dropping the entire engine probably isn't required, but it's likely the easiest way to replace it. The other way would be to lower it ~4 inches and pull the throttle body and intake manifold off, which is kind of a crapshoot as far as effort is concerned IMO.

Yep. Again, welcome to the wonderful world of the 911. About a third of the engine is completely inaccessible without at least lowering it several inches, if not dropping it completely.

Oh also, if it isn't under warranty, avoid having work done at a dealership. Go find an indy shop. You're paying an absolutely ridiculous premium for no reason.

I am under warranty but it doesnt fall under warranty. I would have to pay my comprehensive rate on my insurance to have it fixed.

How much is the estimate? Seems just dropping it some would work. I know on the 977.1, if the coolant reservoir tank needed replaced due to cracking and leaks......which they do.....it required an engine drop of about 5 inches. Any other of your cars get chewed up? Better go get a rat trap. I see 22 hours.....whats the labor rate?

Mice. Ugh! Many posts here about mice eating through wires and causing electrical havoc.
