Default Change from 991.1 to 991.2

Looking up the 991's ....2011 to 2015 then the info I find says that 991.2's are 2015 to 2018
At what point by month does the 991.1 become a 991.2 Seems to be late 2015 (but WHAT MONTH)

The 991.2 begins with model year 2017. Models labeled 2016 feature NA engines on all Carrera models not labeled Turbos. In 2017 model year and after, all Carreras are turbocharged. No 2016 model cars are 991.2 only 2017 and after.

I think what is confusing you may be that the European 991.2s had model years prior to 2017. If you are in the US (and it looks like you are), then any 2017 and later will be a 991.2. But you can find a 2016 991.2 in Europe.

The US allows MY changes to occur very early (I forget what the exact timing is). For example, My 991.2 was built in June of 2017 and took delivery in July 2017, but is a 2018 model.

I realize this is a semantic. 991.1s never became 991.2s. They are different cars. At some point in calendar year 2016 (in the US anyway), Porsche stopped delivering 991.1 cars, which were 2016 models, and began delivering 991.2 cars, which were 2017 models. But in this case there were obviously more factors to differentiate the two than the model year and the chassis designation. 991.1 to 991.2 was in fact one of the more pronounced generational redesigns, mainly because of the powertrain differences.

It's common for car companies to begin delivery of the "next" model year cars during the "current" model year, everybody does it. As I write this, it's May 2023. Right now nearly all cars being delivered are still model year 23 cars, but probably within three months we'll start to see model 24 cars coming in.

agreed, month doesn't matter - model year tells you all you need to know... want to know with a quick visual? look at the steering wheel, headlights or engine cover venting. Of course a user could have changed those over, so using the model year is the safest bet. Or crawl under and look for the snails...
