991.2 brake pads
#17
I have the stock pads with steel rotors on my 991.1 and they squeal at slow speeds so bad, its unbearable. I feel like I'm in a 1979 pinto. Bus drivers look at me with a look of sympathy. I have tried everything as far as bedding them. As soon as they get warm, they squeal when touching the brake pedal and then it just gets worse from there.
The car was tracked extensively but will now be used primarily for street. New OEM pads and rotors went on in November, right after the last track day. Now that the car is on the street, I need something quieter, even at the expense of performance. With stop and go traffic and low speeds, I don't think it's too bad a trade-off.
Suggestions? Endless ME20's the way to go? Should I replace both pads and rotors with something more suited for street?
Thanks!

If you want silent, Textar works well but the pedal feel isn't as good. Have done track days on both.

I would do the Endless MX72 if you want something with better bite than stock, and a much-improved pedal feel, but still quieter than the OE, for a 97% street car. I have 5 days on my pads (NJMP and NYST) and they are still going strong.

Thanks for the advice @AdamSanta85 Sounds like Endless is the way to go. Question then, do I keep the OEM steel rotors or upgrade to something from Endless or Girodisc? I read somewhere on here that the vented adds to the noise and slotted might be quieter.
That being said stock rotors if they have a lot of life in them are probably just fine.
IMO stainless brake lines and good fluid such as Endless RF650 or Castrol SRF are worth the extra ~$200.

If you decide to do the Endless pads, try giving Matt at Speed Freaks a call, mention Rennlist, etc and he should be able to give you a break from retail price.

OEM rotors are good and there is no need to "upgrade", Endless rotors are overpriced for street use.
I would not use ME20 for a car that is predominately going to spending 99% of their time on the street, winding road. They are noisy and more dusty that OEM pads.
MX72 Plus is my recommendation (MX72 is old version), Endless made further improvements to the MX72 Plus so there is no reason to buy MX72.
MX72 Plus performs well for 99% street, winding road use. It bites better, harder, offers better pedal modulation ... To top it off, it spits out less dust.
MX72 Plus in "most" use cases does not make noise, however when there is little brake temperature, it does and can emit some noise, when it does and you want to stop it, just brake harder the next you stop and it will go away, it's well predictable and can be mitigated. Nothing like OEM pads which squeal unpredictably.
4 Point 0 is right, everything is a trade-off for one thing or another. There is no win win.
Any of these pads, especially pads that offer better bite, they are wearing out the rotors quicker, by how much is subjective to how much you drive, in the end all these are mileage dependent consumables based on how hard you push everything.
MX72 Plus are also considered expensive pads, made to order = long lead time from Japan if not in stock.
You pay for what you get, if there is no compelling rush and you have patience, order a set of MX72 Plus, you will no be disappointed.

Thanks, i see conflicting sizes for the fronts.
EIP240 - I thought that was GT3 sizing, and wouldn't fit the GTS calipers.
I found EIP214 for the 991.2 GTS.
Appreciate the update. Will ask for a quote on the EIP240 and EIP215.

MX72 Plus ends in MXPL, make sure this is clearly stated.
Front EIP240MXPL will fit 991.2 GTS.
Rear EIP215MXPL will fit 991.2 GTS.
The above are for 991 3RS (Irons), just a visual reference of what to expect.

i’ve read most tie something off on the brakes so the sensor won’t go off while tracking the car. But i’m wondering if that is necessary for my first time tracking the car on stock pads and rotors???
likely will only track the car once or twice a year if i enjoy the track as i think i will.
