This may seem like a dumb post, but pretty new to the 991. If I raise the spoiler manually, the light turns on on the switch & goes out when lowered. Rolling long with the top up or down above 75, there is no indication it is up or down with reduced speed. Is the spoiler working? You cannot see it & when the top is down, you cannot hear it. Would be great if the light came on when raised & lowered automatically.
This is my single complaint with the car. It annoys me so much that if there is a ducktail that would not interfere with the Targa operation, I might consider it.

I believe that's correct, it is up but I don't think you'll have an illuminated light. I can only see mine when the pano roof is tilted/open and the spoiler opens up even further to accommodate...and again I don't believe I have an illuminated light when its up for at speed deployment. I'll try and confirm this for ya if nobody else chimes in first.
The light doesn't come on when it is automatically raised. There really is no way to tell if it is up. I can see it if I push myself up out of the seat, tilt my head and look out the side mirror. That's it.
I don't like it either. I have a sunroof in my 991.2 so I can see it in the rear mirror since it opens up higher with the sunroof open.
You can trust that it is working. If it doesn't for some reason, you will get a fault light.

The DIC will let you know if the spoiler is malfunctioning. Personally, I let the Porsche do what it does on and off track, besides... it's ugly when it's up and distracts from the beauty of the 991 silhouette. Just my opinion.
Interesting how fast it goes up and down. Think it goes up at 75 mph and lowers at 50.
Was on a “spirited” PCA ride behind a 992. That spoiler probably could have used some grease after that ride considering how much it cycled up and down. Suppose mine was doing the same thing.

It's not a dumb post at all, I've had the same question with my Targa. I've never seen it up (can't see it from the drivers seat in a Targa), I just trust that it's working or I'd get a fault, as others have commented.
beside vehicle speed and sunroof the spoiler is also controlled by the ECU based on intercooler temperatures. in fact that will over-ride the speed constraint and lift it up at lower speeds if you are spending a lot of time in boost.
Y’all can’t look in the rear view mirror and see it up? I’m 6’1” but I sit with my LWBS in the lowest position because I like the low seating position. It’s fun watching it flip up and down, it goes so fast! Blink and you’ll miss it happen lol. I’ve noticed it up at lower speeds around 30 mph too, maybe because I drive in Sport+ and the weather outside is hot so it decides the engine needs more cooling. Like others have said, I just let it do its thing and not worry unless it gives an error.
Have friend follow you. Do about 80. Call your friend and ask them what you’re spoiler is doing? FWIW it bothered me too. This is how my question was answered.

It actually bothered me so much when I first got my 981 that I put a GoPro on the back just to check it out.

This annoyed me as well. But you can tell its raised from your rear view mirror. It will peek just over the rear window
Ironic, I sometimes prefer it to be always down. Anyway I can defeat this? pull the fuse?
Yes, but you will get a fault. There is a way to do it without the fault because guys that get the after market fixed wing have to do it. I'm not sure what they do though.
