Costco Replaces Rims on My Porsche.
A little over a month earlier I posted a thread on this 991 Rennlist category titled ‘Beware Costco Tire Center Causes Rim Damage when Mounting New Tires’. Today Costco mounted two new OEM Porsche rims on my 991.2 to replace the damaged ones. This was done at their cost. This affirms my original conviction that Costco is very concerned about the satisfaction of their customers. It took a while to find the right people at Costco to contact. I got nowhere with their insurance company. Their insurance company stated I couldn’t prove the rim damage had occurred during the tire install and refused to pay for the damage. Costco reversed this ruling. I’m posting this as a newly titled thread so its read with a positive reflection towards the company. Thanks for your understanding Costco.

Great! Was a little surprised to hear that they were playing hardball, and glad that they pulled through on the right side.
Still, I would not go to Costco for my tire changes. Then again, I have CLs.

Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOW NEXT TIME VIDEO TAPE THE CAR IN THEIR GARAGE BEFORE THEY TOUCH IT TO SUBSTANTIATE CONDITION. 95% would have just walked away with their tail between their legs or got solace in a similar story from neighbor or coworker. Great job owning it and resolving it!!!!

I first talked to the local store manager by phone and he said he would get back to me in a few days. The assistant manager called me back in a couple days and said they would ok a new rim. I explained it was two rims, called me back on the same day and said they would replace them. Each rim was $2808 purchased from my local Porsche dealer.

Probably just a 5 lug. I needed one 20" Carrera S 5 lug wheel from a pothole incident (satin black) last year and is was $2100. Contrast, on sale from Apex, four SM-10 wheels for the same car (albeit 18" for track use) were $1500 - and quality is as good or better. This is in line with everything Porsche. OEM brake pads cost 5x equivalents and the same or more than high end track pads. Not a complaint, you just need to know which things to stick with genuine Porsche vs. things where aftermarket is equivalent or better and cheaper.
Glad to hear about Costco - I've also been a customer for decades. That said, no way the Porsche goes there for tires. Tire Rack and my local P dealer have same or better tire prices and you can trust installation. One of the few things where dealer is the best service deal.
