Wisconsin to Houston. You going to find out what Hell is. May 15 to November 25 expect 90F plus and 80% humidity. Sure at night it gets to 80F and 95% humidity. Difference between Houston and most places, wake up cool, day warms then cools down. Not Houston 7 months of hot muggy rainey overcast misery. Food great, population has exploded, great paying jobs and cheap cost of living. Roads gone to crap. Only reason to live in Houston is make money and get out.

As with everything on the internet, opinions will vary and everyone will be correct and think everyone else is wrong. All I'm saying, moving soon from Madison, I'll make two trips. One to reposition the car, one to move everything else.

Currently in Madison as well. Moving south Monday, and using Bears Transport. $1500 to haul my 911 in an enclosed trailer from WI to FL. Just an option.

LOL, thanks for that......but what one forgets that up in WI, December through early March you need to stay inside because during the day when it's -20, it gets colder at night -30+.....I know all about the heat of Houston and actually look forward to it. At least at night I can go outside with a pair of shorts and still drive my car and do things.....up here nothing moves! LOL......but thanks for the insight. PS - I'm really looking forward to meeting up with some of the other Porsche groups while down there.....maybe someday we can have a drink.

Pulling it behind a Ford F150 Supercrew so I'm hoping not to have any issues. Thanks guys!

Why not ship it? The cost is minimal, you can be assured of no damage and you'll save yourself a lot of trouble. The problem with U-Haul is you never know the quality of trailer they'll have. If it breaks you're in deep ka-ka.

Have you had a car shipped lately? I had mine shipped from Utah to New Hampshire 3K. I just spoke to someone today that was quoted 8K from Mass to Florida.

Some of these auto shippers I would not even want them to look at my car never mind ship it.

Yes I had one shipped from Boston to DC for $800 two years ago. I shopped around and had quotes as high as $1,800. The guy who did it had one pickup and a covered trailer not a semi. $8K from Mass to FL is a stunning ripoff and I would think anyone would know better than that. I bet the OP could do Wisconsin to Houston for less than $1,500- max. Probably $1,200. Renting a trailer, driving, a hotel, fueling, wear and tear and eating would be half that.

In fact I had a half a semi trailer worth of my BIL's belongs shipped from Ft. Myers to Maryland after Hurricane Ian for $900.

Whoever you're getting your estimates from is a rapist. Or you're not shopping around at all.....$8K from Mass. to FL is beyond ridiculous. Not even on the same planet.

I used incognito express based in Texas it was 1800 from Connecticut to Houston last October. They are smaller usually 2 car enclosed shipping. They will farm it out if you want it quicker where they have contacts with 18 wheelers. Used them multiple times without issue.

My 911 was being delivered the same day I was driving back from San Antonio in my beater car. I vacillated if I should drive my down from Connecticut. As I am on crap I-10 in my beater a piece of rebar flies by me 80 mph, then a can of yellow paint bouncing down the road squirting every time the button its smacks the front of my car. I then proceeded to do 105mph to hunt down the POS that didn't secure his load in his POS trailer and found him. Called 911 as more rebar was about to fly out, the connected me with a DPS trooper who coordinated location with me and he ran him down. Little hispanic buddy got a real nice ticket, POS truck and trailer towed. I almost smashed into trooper when he hit his brakes because another piece of rebar was flying out and he didn't want to hit it. I seen shingles blow out of dump trailers, I could count 5 pieces of debris in 20 miles if I left my house right now. I calculated to fly in and drive 911 back would cost $800. Shipping was $1000 more. How much is headlight or hood respray for Porsche, what about windshield.
