Default Acceleration in Sport +

Speaking to a 2019 C2S with PDK & Sport Chrono. Car runs terrific except..

I usually drive the car in Sport mode. Except for the burbles, enjoy the around the town driving. Recently I started experimenting with Sports + mode. I turn off the rougher ride but really like the higher engine rev except of course when I don’t. I had the wife out the other day and she commented on the rougher shifting and as usual, she was right. The PDK does shift roughly in sport +. The PDK “feels” like it is lifting the engaged clutch too early. The car doesn’t pause but rather the transmission “thumps” when the next gear’s clutch engages. It’s really not nice.

In normal or sport mode the shifting is smooth and flawless. Does anyone have this experience? Thanks.

991.1 C2S here. Yes, sport+ results in a thump when you change gears. The clutches engage much quicker. All part of the fun!

The thump is from the active engine mounts... which I also find very annoying in sport + mode. I usually keep mine in Sport with manual shifting at the track.

I did not know that. Whatever it's from, I don't mind it at all in Sport+. Sport+ is generally too insane to use most of the time for me, anyway.

The thump is because it's effectively dropping the clutch with the engine spinning faster than it would otherwise be in the target gear.

Totally normal.

In my experience w S+ driving, if you are not driving aggressively then yes, its not a great ride. When I am w the wife running around town I roll in comfort or normal mode. No complaints from the passenger seat. And if you want some punch, just push the accelerator a bit more.

solo or w a buddy, S+ all day. Fast acceleration off the line and late braking to get all the fun stuff from both exhaust and transmission.

of course this is all in my Macan GTS w PDK. My 991.1 is a 3 peddle so its all go!

The thumping gets even more pronounced the harder you accelerate. I really like it.

Sport+ is not for the faint of heart in my experience. Everything about it can be unnerving unless you understand what you're getting into. Cool tho.
